Ronald Peter Stoeferle (born 1980) is a chartered market technician, certified financial technician, author, advisor, and lecturer.[1] He currently serves as the managing partner and fund manager at Incrementum AG, while also being a member of the boards of Tudor Gold Corporation and Matterhorn Asset Management in Switzerland.[2][3][4]

Stoeferle is renowned for his annual "In Gold We Trust" report,[5] considered the benchmark for gold research. He is a lecturer at the Institute for Value Management in Vienna and the founder and managing partner at Austrian Economics Analytics.[6]

Stoeferle has authored several books, including "Austrian School for Investors - Investing Between Inflation and Deflation" (co-authored) and "The Zero Interest Rate Trap." Stoeferle’s gold studies and reports have been widely covered by international media outlets such as Bloomberg, CNBC, the Economist, Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, and Zerohedge.[7]

Early life and education

Stoeferle was born in Vienna, Austria, in 1980. He pursued his studies in economics and finance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, completing his degree in 2004. Stoeferle then earned a Master's in business administration from the Vienna University of Economics and Business in 2005. Following his formal education, Stoeferle enrolled in several courses focused on the Austrian School of Economics. He also completed training and qualified as a Chartered Market Technician (CMT) and a Certified Financial Technician (CFTe).

Career

Stoeferle began his career in 2001 as a part-time consultant at SOREF Consulting. During his studies in business administration and finance, Stoeferle worked for Raiffeisen Zentralbank (RZB) in the Fixed Income and Credit Investments department.[8][9]

In 2006, he joined Erste Group Bank in Vienna, where he worked as an analyst for international equities with a focus on Asia.[10] Subsequently, he began analyzing the commodity markets and published his first gold study in the same year.[11] His reports on gold, titled "In Gold We Trust," gained widespread attention and were covered by various international media outlets such as CNBC, Bloomberg, the Wall Street Journal, the Economist, Zerohedge, and the Financial Times. Till 2022, he has authored sixteen benchmark reports under the same title that have received global recognition.[12]

Between 2007 and 2012, Stoeferle was in charge of analysing the oil and gas industry, choosing stocks for two gold stock baskets and one silver stock basket, and managing those stocks.[13][14]

In 2013, Stoeferle became the managing director and partner of Incrementum AG, which is based in Liechtenstein and focuses on asset and wealth management.[15] He is also on the board of Tudor Gold, a Canadian exploration company with projects in the Golden Triangle in British Columbia, and an advisor to Matterhorn Asset Management, which specializes in physical gold storage outside the banking system.[16][17]

Since 2013, he has been a lecturer at the Institute for Value Management in Vienna and the Vienna Stock Exchange Academy.[18] In November 2013, he co-founded Austrian Economics Analytics OG with Mark Valek. Together, they manage a global macro fund based on the principles of the Austrian School of Economics.[19]

In 2014, he co-authored the book "Austrian School for Investors – Investing Between Inflation and Deflation."[20] The English version of the book was released in 2015. In 2019, he authored "The Zero Interest Rate Trap."

Personal life

Stoeferle currently lives in Austria with his wife and three daughters. During his free time, he enjoys engaging in activities with his family, such as watching and playing football, running, and attending classical concerts.
