Robin Lumsden (born August 30, 1976) is an Austrian-American lawyer, entrepreneur[1] and owner of the Vienna Vikings, an American football club based in Austria.[2]

Early life and education

Robin Lumsden was born in in Austria and grew up in Vienna and Lower Austria as the son of former Jamaican tennis player Lance Lumsden.

In 2003 he graduated from the University of Vienna and in 2005 from the University of California, Berkeley with an LL.M. At Berkeley, he has been the alumni representative for Austria since 2008.[3] In 2008, he obtained his doctorate in law in Vienna and passed the bar examinations in Austria, New York[4] and Washington D.C.[5] From 2017 to 2019, two further master's studies followed at Stanford University, one at the Stanford Graduate School of Business with a focus on business.[6]

Career

Lumsden competed inter alia the Wimbledon Championships in junior singles in 1993[7]and as a quarterback for Baden Bruins and Südstadt Rangers in the Austrian Football League.[2]

From 2013 to 2017, Lumsden was vice president and lawyer of the Austrian Tennis Federation.[8] To kick off the 2022 season, Lumsden became the co-owner of the the Vienna Vikings,[2] an American football team who were the European League of Football (ELF) Champions for the 2022 season.[9]

After working as a junior partner at Schoenherr, Lumsden founded the business law firm Lumsden & Partners in 2013.[10] From 2015 to 2019, he successfully defended Vienna International Airport against a $168 million lawsuit (prosecutors represented by Alan M. Dershowitz).[11] In 2020, Lumsden advised the City of Vienna on the partnership with Magenta Telekom[12] He also appears as an expert on ORF (broadcaster)[13] and Puls 24[14] on USA related topics.

In 2010, Lumsden became the youngest honorary consul of Jamaica in Austria.[15]
