Robert Terell (born 14 April 1981), also known as The Official Dealmaker, is an American entrepreneur, Celebrity Entertainment and Music Executive, global brand strategist, author, and motivational speaker. Terell is best known for his work as a Celebrity Business Manager, specializing in deal brokering, brand development, business management, and monetization.

Terell has gained recognition for helping budding artists gain mass popularity and leverage their talents for a profitable business. Throughout his career, he has partnered and collaborated with several leading major music labels such as Universal Music Group Distribution (UMGD), through INgrooves Fontana, Universal/Empire, Sony Music Entertainment (SME) and ADA-Warner Music Group.[1]

Terell has represented numerous Riaa certified-Multi-Platinum recording artists throughout his two-decade-long career as a music executive which includes Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Jackie's Boy, Riaa Certified multi-platinum recording artists Soul for Real (Riaa certified multi-platinum), Silkk the Shocker (Riaa certified multi-platinum), AMIL (Riaa certified platinum), James Worthy (Riaa certified platinum), J-DUB (Riaa certified multi-platinum producer), Gunplay, Def Jam/MMG, Nancy Denise actress, Bad Girls Club/Oxygen Network, Harlem World (Riaa certified Gold), Lah Pat (Riaa certified Gold), Church Boi (Riaa certified Platinum writer/producer), Writaz Blok (Riaa Certified Platinum) writer/producer, Andre Pitre-Actor (Tyler Perry studios) and Black Oxygen- ADA Warner Music Group.[2]

In addition to working as a Celebrity entertainment executive in the music industry, Terell is a nationally renowned author of five best-selling books on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Target, and Walmart. He has been booked as a keynote motivational speaker at multiple major events including A3C Music festival, BET pre-awards celebration, and National DJ coalition events. He is often seen at major media events, be it music or business conferences, TV show appearances, or nationally broadcast podcasts addressing the audience on the topics of entrepreneurship, strategic brand development, financial empowerment, artist development and global music business strategies.[3]

Early life and education

Terell was born on 14 April 1981 in New York City. He was raised by a single-parent mother. While growing up, Terell developed an inclination towards entrepreneurship, which was fueled by his natural communication skills.

Later, he pursued a master’s degree in International Business at Fordham University. He also acquired a national certification as a Credit Consultant.

Career

Terell began his career as an intern at Calliope studios in New York, where he served as the co-manager of Gunplay's (MMG/DEF JAM). In a short period of time since his debut in the music industry,[4] Terell started Wealth Nation Entertainment and got associated with the industry giants including Priority Records, Bad Boy Records, No Limit Records, and Rocafella Records to name a few. He got the opportunity to represent Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter Jackie's Boy, multi-platinum recording artists- J Dub, Soul for Real, Silkk the Shocker, AMIL, and others.[5]

Terell eventually obtained a huge music license deal with music composer-producer Def Jef approx over $3 million in order to get placement on BET's Wayans Bros Show "Next Generation Wayans, which aired in 2013. Simultaneously, he also signed a deal with a major label distribution for national recording artist Roma and a partnership with VH2 Television networks for the reality TV series-Industry Certified Journey. Soon, Terell established RMG-Rocstar Music Group by securing a second major label distribution deal with Sony Music Group via the Orchard.[6]

Terell created Industry Certified, a multi-media organization that provides unique online content to a global audience, in August of 2019. Industry Certified, within two years, has extended into other media platforms, such as radio and television. In 2020, Terell began motivational speaking with Live Legendary with the aim to encourage his listeners and take the right steps while starting their businesses. He is also the founder of Artist Rewards, exclusive brand loyalty, and a national membership network that aims at helping independent artists advance their careers. His most recent project, Business Certified PR, launched in late 2020, was designed to meet the public relations demands of customers in the entertainment industry.[7]

Throughout his career, Terell has held various key positions in the industry, including Vice President of A&R with IMG Records, and Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs/Strategic Partnerships for HYPE Magazine and THM Media.[8] As of 2021, he is working as a Regional Director for South Regional Markets for Bungalow/Universal Music Group Distribution.[9]

Apart from that, Terell also runs a non-profit organization called Faith Champions, which promotes a faith-based lifestyle and helps people support the talents of their peers. He is also the author of three best-selling books titled TGIM: Thank God It's Monday!: The Journey of an Entrepreneur,[10] Broke and Famous: The Music Game,[11] and Level UP: The Business of Music and Entertainment.[12]

Terell is the father of three children named Derek, Niles, and Brock. He likes to spend as much time as possible with his children.
