Rishabh Mariwala
Rishabh Mariwala is an Indian entrepreneur, investor, and managing partner of Sharrp Ventures, the Mariwala family office.[1] He is also the founder of luxury personal-care brands Soap Opera (established 2010) and PureSense (launched 2016) and is a second-generation member of the Marico business family.[2]
Early Life and Education
Rishabh is the son of Harsh Mariwala, the founder and chairman of Marico. He graduated from the Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University in New York, USA
Career
Soap Opera & PureSense
In 2010, Rishabh launched Soap Opera, a luxury skincare brand rooted in handcrafted personal care. Later, in 2016, he expanded into premium skincare with the launch of PureSense.[3][4]
Family Business and Kaya Involvement
Prior to these ventures, he was involved in the development of Kaya Skin Clinic, the beauty services arm of Marico.
Sharrp Ventures
Rishabh founded and currently leads Sharrp Ventures, which serves as the Mariwala family's multi-asset investment vehicle, focused on consumer startups and long-term strategic investing.[5]
Under his leadership, Sharrp Ventures emphasizes "patient capital", often investing in early-stage consumer startups without fixed exit timelines, aiming to support founders and build value over time. In a 2021 interview, Rishabh explained that Sharrp’s investment philosophy was not driven by diversification, but by his genuine interest in the consumer sector.[6]
He has also articulated a vision of establishing Sharrp Ventures as "the best consumer investor in the country," by leveraging the advantages of long-termism and access to Marico’s distribution and strategic network.[7][8]
Recognition and Public Engagement
- In 2021, Rishabh was included in the ET 40 Under Forty list, recognizing emerging leaders in business.
- He has participated in high-profile industry panels, such as LetsIgnite 2023, where he discussed the future of family offices and consumer investing
- Alongside his father Harsh Mariwala, he spoke on shifting consumer trends and the growing relevance of "masstige" (mass-premium), D2C business models, and quick commerce dissemination
