Ridhwan Azman (born April 9, 1993), also known as Ridhwan, is a Singaporean YouTuber, singer, blogger, actor, and social media influencer. He initially gained recognition for his role as Ismail in the "Ah Boys to Men" series and has since expanded his career to star in various productions. Ridhwan has gained recognition for portraying characters such as Ren Yi Xiang in the Titan Academy series.[1][2]

Ridhwan is the founder and director of CrayEight Studios Pte Ltd. He owns and manages a YouTube channel named Ridhwan Azman, boasting over 689K subscribers. On Instagram, he has amassed a following of over 207K users.[3]

Early life and education

Ridhwan was born on April 9, 1993. His childhood was marked by his parents's divorce when he was nine years old. After the divorce, his mother primarily raised Ridhwan and his younger siblings. The family faced a period of homelessness, seeking shelter at various relatives' homes. This challenging experience compelled Ridhwan to mature quickly and become a pillar of support for his mother and siblings.

In his writings, Ridhwan shares about meeting his stepfather when he was around 9 or 10. He had a healthy relationship with his stepfather until the latter passed in 2014.

Ridhwan experienced frequent school changes during his early years due to his biological parents' divorce. He attended Junyuan Primary School initially, followed by a stint at Lianhua Primary School before returning to Junyuan. Subsequently, he studied at Balestier Hill Primary School before his PSLE examinations. He later pursued his secondary education at Bendemeer Secondary School. He enrolled in an events management course at ITE Bishan but discontinued his studies to pursue acting opportunities.

Career

Singing

Ridhwan began his music career in 2009, participating in Channel U's reality TV singing competition, Campus SuperStar (season 3), where he emerged as one of the Top 12 finalists.[4]

In 2012, Ridhwan participated in The New Paper's Loud Cover Contest, performing Jay Chou's songs alongside Muhd Afiq Juraimi. Throughout his career, Ridhwan has released original songs like "Strawberry" and collaborated on music projects such as "Don't Give Up" with Jordin Tan. His creativity extended to composing songs like Jianhao and Debbie's Baby, celebrating the birth of Jianhao Tan and Debbie's child.[5]

Ridhwan is a YouTuber and runs a channel under his name. Initially focusing on song covers and original compositions, Azman's earlier uploads were deleted due to a hacking incident by a group known as the Anonymous Legion. Despite this setback, Azman rebuilt his channel and currently boasts over 284 videos and 689k subscribers as of March 2024. His YouTube content spans various genres, including comedy skits, personal vlogs, music videos, and entertainment content.[6]

Ridhwan frequently collaborated with Jian Hao Tan, promoting local YouTube talents like Banchothematrep on his channel. Noteworthy among his projects is the web series "Kena Trend," specializing in comedic sketches and engaging content.[7]

From humorous sketches addressing societal norms to introspective explorations of relationships, Ridhwan engages viewers with relatable and entertaining content. He also ventures into challenges and experiments, providing insight into his daily life and experiences. Acting

Ridhwan's acting career started with recurring roles as Recruit Ismail in Jack Neo's film series, "Ah Boys to Men." Initially attending the audition as a companion to a friend, Ridhwan unexpectedly secured the role, propelling him into the spotlight and establishing his presence in the media industry. His notable performances in the Titan Academy series include "Class T1T5 Series: Titan Academy" (2018) and "I Am a Teacher" (2021).[10]

CrayEight Studios Pte. Ltd.

In November 2017, Ridhwan established CrayEight Studios Pte Ltd, a media company specializing in corporate video production, events management, and social media marketing. As the founder and director of this subsidiary under Titan Digital Media Pte Ltd., Ridhwan continues to expand his presence in the media industry.[11]
