Rey Abraham, BSS (Born in April 28, 2000) is Indonesian Youth that is currently serving as the Chairman of The Indonesian Students Association in the United Kingdom. He has been involved in several leadership positions including President of PresUniv Debating Society 2020 and Secretary General of President International Model United Nations 2020. He focuses in international affairs, politics, diplomacy, and public speaking. Currently, he is pursuing his master degree in Global Development (Politic, Governance, and Development Policy) with the Indonesian Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) from the Ministry of Finance, the Republic of Indonesia.[1]

During his previous study, he has been actively participated both academically and non-academically. Therefore, he was awarded the Most Outstanding Student in the International Relations Study Program 2021. He also became the first student to finish the study and pass the thesis defense in 2021. He has been awarded several achievements both national and international level, mostly in public speaking. According to one of the national news, Rey expressed his interest in having a career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.[2]

Education and achievement

Rey Abraham has a strong academic interest since his early education. During his high school in SMAN 4 Denpasar, he has been participating in several international conference and summit as Indonesian representative, such as in Singapore-Indonesia Student Leadership Adventure Camp 2015 and Asia Pacific Young Leader Summit 2017. Bali he has been awarded more than 25 regional and national achievements in mostly debate and public speaking, including one of the most prestigious dentist olympiad held by the University of Indonesia. After graduating high school, Rey Abraham chose to continue his undergraduate in International Relations, President University. During his tertiary education, his encounter to international affairs and diplomacy related subjects delivered him to Model United Nations which has expanded his interest beyond public speaking and debate into exercising the academic knowledge practically. He held several leadership and organizational positions such as the President of PresUniv Debating Society 2020 and Secretary General of President International Model United Nations 2020. Rey became the first student who finished his study and pass the thesis defense amongst his batch. He also graduated with magna cumlaude.[3] Aside than that, he was the part of youth development international non-governmental organizations with diverse roles in diverse divisions, including the manager of public relations, external relations, information management, marketing, and the last role global manager of platform in AIESEC.

During his undergraduate degree, he was selected for the opportunity in several student exchange programs, including the mobility program in Universiti Utara Malaysia, Malaysia and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Japan. He was also active in sharing knowledge towards different program studies in different universities across Indonesia as speaker and panelist.[4]

He has been awarded more than 50+ achievements during undergraduate. Some of the achievements are as follows:

After finishing his study at President University in 2022, Rey Abraham decided to continue his postgraduate degree in Global Development in Politics, Governance, and Development Policy pathway, the University of Manchester in 2023.

Ambassador

Rey has not only active in academic but also chosen as a representation of an entity as ambassador. Due to his active social presence he has been chosen as the Youth Ambassador of CIMB Niaga Bank in 2020 (Until present), Ambassador of Indonesian Youth Potential in 2022 (Until present), and Ambassador of President University in 2018.

Publications

Rey Abraham has been actively involved in publishing book and journal. Some of his writings are the journal entitled "An Analysis of People’s Republic of China’s Socio-Political and Economic Implications of Covid-19 Outbreak Year 2020"[9] in the Journal of Comprehensive Science and a book entitled "There is Always Something."
