Maheshwari was born in India and pursued a background in technology and business. He studied at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Varanasi, where he specialized in engineering and developed an interest in digital education models and scalable technology platforms.
Career
Before co-founding Physics Wallah, Maheshwari worked on multiple ventures in the technology and startup ecosystem, focusing on building scalable digital platforms. His entrepreneurial work emphasized accessibility and affordability in education through the use of online learning systems.[4]
In 2020, Maheshwari co-founded Physics Wallah alongside Alakh Pandey. The platform began as a YouTube channel providing free physics tutorials and later expanded into a full-scale ed-tech company offering structured online courses, test preparation materials, and hybrid coaching centers across India.[5]
Under Maheshwari’s leadership in technology and operations, the company grew rapidly, reaching millions of students across urban and rural India.[6] In 2022, Physics Wallah became India’s first ed-tech unicorn with a valuation of over US$1 billion following its Series A funding round led by WestBridge Capital and GSV Ventures.[7]
