Pradeep Narwal is an Indian politician and Ambedkarite sociopolitical activist. He is currently the youngest National Secretary for the All India Congress Committee.[1][2]

Early life and education

Pradeep Narwal was born in 1991 at Kathura village in Sonipat district of Haryana. He belongs to a Dalit family.[2] He was the student of Jawaharlal Nehru University.[3]

Political Career

In 2016, Narwal started his career as a Dalit-student activist at Jawaharlal Nehru University, where he became a member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad|ABVP.[4] He was the Dalit student leader in JNU.[5]Just after five months, he resigned from ABVP and burnt some sections of Manusmriti.[6][7][8] After the Jawaharlal Nehru University sedition row|Jawaharlal Nehru University's February 9 event, he alleged that the ABVP had doctored the video of raising anti-India slogans to target Kanhaiya Kumar and Umar Khalid.[9] Narwal was also a member of the Bhim Army|Bhim Army Defense Committee.[10] In 2018, Narwal joined the Indian National Congress.[11] He was appointed as working president of the Scheduled Castes Department in the Haryana Congress. Later, he was appointed as national coordinator of the AICC Schedule Castes Department. He is currently serving as the youngest National Secretary in AICC and incharge Uttar Pradesh Congress.[2] From the beginning of his political career, he has been one of the prominent Dalit leaders and has demanded the rights and safety of Dalits.[12][13]
