Phurba Sherpa (Nepali: फुर्वा शेर्पा) is Filmmaker, Music Video Director , Television Director / Producer and Nepali singer. He started his musical carrier from his Album "Anjaan" for musical audience in the year 2001 AD. He has directed many music videos, documentaries and TV Shows. Now he is working as Producer/Director at "Tamasoma Jyotirgamaya" a talk show in AP1 Television.

Personal life

Phurba Sherpa was born on 17 September to Mingma Sherpa and Shanti Devi Sherpa he was born at Bhojpur and moved to Biratnagar, Nepal. He began his school studies and completed School Leaving Certificate (S.L.C) and joined the Global College of Management for plus two studies. He then completed BBA degree and acquired Diploma in Digital Film Making from SAE Institute, headquartered in Bayron Bay, Australia then returned to Kathmandu and made some new films, music video, television shows and music.

Singing Journey

Sherpa has sung several songs besides his two solo music albums “Anjaan” & “Geet Ek Akshar Ko“.[1]

He has appeared in several music concerts in Nepal and abroad. He says that he is not a trained singer and sings as his hobby since his school days. His latest solo track is “Meri Unilai” which has been recorded after ten years though he works full time directing Music Videos, Television Shows, Corporate Videos, and commercials.

His song Geet Ek Akshar Ko features the world’s first ever one-letter song in the world music industry for which he has been awarded with "Guinness World Records" in 2004 and "World Book of Records, London in 2021"[1][2]

He was nominated in the category Best song with National Feeling for 2006 and 2008 in the country’s Eighth [3] and 10th Annual Image Award.[4]

Career

Sherpa Started his journey into the world of Television in 2008 by working at National Television. He joined TTV in 2009 and directed shows such as War of DJ, The Flop Show and Little Champs. He is a graduate in Digital Filmmaking from SAE Institute, Australia.

Mr Sherpa has also worked on several international projects. In 2013, he joined an International Production House in Dubai and worked for more than one year as the Director, he returned to Nepal in 2015 and started working at CNN. As a Freelance Producer at CNN, he delivers video footage, still pictures and stories from in and around Nepal that CNN uses on its platforms.[5]

Mr Sherpa who joined AP1 TV in 2016 has been working in Television shows of AP1 TV as Senior Producer which include Idea Studio Season 5, Tamasoma Jyotirgamaya, [6]Glamour Guff and Rajatpat.

He has been nominated as Best Music Video Director for the 12th Annual Image Award for his work ” Youwanma Ta Timro“, the 15th Annual Image Award in the category Best Music Video for his work “Jane Belamaa“, Best Cameraman Sagar Pradhan for the work “Aago Sahera” music video which has been filmed at the locations of Abu Dhabi, UAE with limited numbers of crew but cant get award . For the 16th Annual Image Award “Meri Unilai” music video has been nominated in the category Best Cameraman. All the work which has been mentioned above and below has been made under his production company Phurba Sherpa Production Film.

His one show 'Tamasoma Jyotirgamaya' is also included by World Book of Records, London as television talk show filmed at Highest altitude 5550 meters.[1][7]
