OccupationInvestment banker

Philippe Hottinguer, born November 16, 1969, is a Franco-Swiss investment banker. After having worked in the family bank (Banque Hottinguer & Cie Paris, sold to the Crédit Suisse Group in 1997), he founded the Philippe Hottinguer Group, which is present in France and Switzerland and which develops two types of activities: business and wealth management.

Training

Philippe Hottinguer studied in France at the Saint-Martin de France school in Oise (95). He graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, United States (Bachelor in Finance) and the University of Paris-Dauphine, France (Masters in Banking, Finance, Insurance).[1]

Family

Philippe Hottinguer, father of five children, comes from one of the oldest banking families in Europe, from Zollikon, on the shores of Lake Zurich (Switzerland)[2]. He is a direct descendant of Jean-Conrad Hottinguer, Baron d'Empire, founder of the Hottinguer bank and of the Banque de France of which he was Regent, and founder of the Caisse d'Épargne et de Prévoyance de Paris with Benjamin Delessert in 1818. His paternal grandfather, Rodolphe Hottinguer, was, for more than thirty-five years, president of the l’Association française des banques [French Association of Banks] (now the Fédération bancaire française [French Banking Federation]) while his maternal grandfather, Bernard de Plas, husband of Monique Saint (family of textile manufacturers) contributed to the development of advertising in France[3] (the abbreviated genealogy of the Hottinguer family).

Career

After a stint at Neuflize Schlumberger Mallet, then at Meeschaert-Rousselle as an options sales trader, Philippe Hottinguer joined the family bank Hottinguer & Cie Paris in 1994 at the request of his father, Paul Hottinguer[4]. There he held various positions in the capital markets division until 1997, when the bank was transferred to the Credit Suisse Group, where he was then in charge of the advisory desk for private banking and asset management in Paris. In 2000, he founded an entity which would later become Dexia Invest Conseil, of which he was Managing Director until 2003. That year, he decided to stand on his own feet by buying from Dexia Banque Privée the entity that he created and is now called the Philippe Hottinguer Group[5] (previously H et Associés). The group, which puts its expertise at the service of entrepreneurs, has been structured and expanded over the years, notably with the creation of Philippe Hottinguer Finance, an investment banking consultancy company founded after the sale of the group's brokerage and financial intermediation in 2012[6][7][8]. Chairman of Philippe Hottinguer Finance, Philippe Hottinguer is also Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Philippe Hottinguer and Cie Gestion, which is developing the group's second activity: both private (under mandate) and collective asset management[9][10]. At the same time, he created Ramp-Up, a brand of Philippe Hottinguer Finance that helps start-ups raise funds, by offering them expert assistance and by being associated with their success for any compensation[11]. The Philippe Hottinguer Group is also established in Switzerland, through Philippe Hottinger Finance and Philippe Hottinger Wealth Services[12].

Sponsorship

Through the Philippe Hottinguer Group as well as an individual, Philippe Hottinguer regularly engages in sponsorship, cultural - for example in favor of the reconstruction of Notre-Dame[13] - as well as in sports, in particular by supporting the F1 Grand Prix de France Historique since 2019[14].

Other activites

Racing driver[15] (he was notably French Formula 3 champion in the Promotion category in 2001[16]), Philippe Hottinguer is a director of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest [West Automobile Club].
