Peter BenHur Nyeko is a Ugandan entrepreneur and the CEO of Mandulis Energy.[1][2] His application of technology to turn waste into energy in rural Uganda has won him national and international support and awards.

Early life

Nyeko was born in Uganda and studied Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Bristol.[3]

Career

In 2012, Nyeko co-invested $50,000 in 20 hectares of eucalyptus trees, just outside Kampala.[4]

In 2014 Nyeko launched the Mandulis Energy,[5] a company that helps rural farmers turn Biodegradable waste.[6] He has been supported by the Royal Norwegian Society for Development, the Laudato sì Challenge Foundation, and the Ugandan government.[3]

In November 2021, Nyeko won Euro|€350,000 from the Dutch Fund for Climate and Development for his work converting agricultural waste into electricity.[7][8][9]
