Olivier Gerbault is a French plastic surgeon.[1][2]

Early life

Olivier Gerbault was a resident of Paris hospitals since 1990, and then senior resident at the Saint Louis hospital in Paris since 1998. In 1997, he graduates as a specialist in aesthetic, plastic, and reconstructive surgery in the medical Faculty Paris VII.

Medical work

Dr. Gerbault is renowned for being the inventor, in early-2010, of a new surgical process in facial surgery: the ultrasonic rhinoplasty.[3][4][5][6][7]

During a conventional rhinoplasty, the nasal bones are frequently blindly broken to reduce the nose or to narrow it.[8] This may lead to unwanted fractures that may create defects on the upper part of the nose. To avoid those complications related to uncontroled fractures, Olivier Gerbault designed piezoelectric instruments, that use the principles of bone selective reshaping through ultrasonic vibrations, and techniques of ultrasonic rhinoplasty (also known as rhinosculpture) in 2013.[9][10][11] [12][13]

The ultrasonic rhinoplasty has gained popularity around the world.[14][15][16][17]
