Nitin Kumar Gupta is a film director and producer in the Hindi film industry.[1]

In November 2020 Nitin Kumar Gupta filmed LAC with Rahul Roy and Nishant Singh Malkani based on India's border soldiers, during which actor Rahul Roy suffered a brain stroke for which Nitin Kumar Gupta bore all medical expenses and brought him back to health.[2] [3] [4] [5] [6] A controversy erupted when Nitin Kumar Gupta announced the film Stroke which was a murder mystery mixing Rahul Roy's real life condition with a murder investigation where the actor witnesses a murder but is unable to name the murderer due to his stroke condition.[7] [8] [9] [10][11] In July 2020 Nitin Kumar Gupta finished filming the film Walk with Rahul Roy and Archana Puran Singh based on the migrant workers affected by the pandemic lockdown in India[12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22]. He has won the Los Angeles Reel Film Festival Award for his work in Road to Sangam.[23] His songs for children on YouTube have over 10 billion combined views.

Early years

Nitin Kumar Gupta graduated with a medical degree from the prestigious King Edward Memorial Hospital and Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College in Mumbai, India. He did further post graduation in Ophthalmology. But he left his medical career to pursue creative professions. Nitin Kumar Gupta started his musical career through the internet, launching and selling his music on the famous online music site – mp3.com. He was in the Top 40 world artist chart, and listed among the top earning artists on the site. He also collaborated with international artists such as Allerian and Cassandra Fink during that period thus gaining immense experience in incorporating international flavour into Indian music. Nitin Kumar Gupta worked for Magnasound as an arranger and remixer on several of their tracks for the top names in the Indian pop industry. Nitin also did remixes for DJ Suketu.

Television

Nitin Kumar Gupta worked for B. P. Singh and Pradeep Uppoor for a couple of years composing the background scores for several episodes of the chart-topping series C.I.D. (TV series) and Aahat. Under Shethia Audio Video, Nitin composed and wrote the songs and also did the background score and sound design, including mixing and Dolby mixing for several animations, including Ghatotkacha and Prahlad, which were heavily showcased on Star network in India.

Musical Aura

Nitin Kumar Gupta collaborated with Prem Hariya on an ongoing series of albums called 'Musical Aura', which feature Dolby surround music playing with high definition videos of nature to produce a relaxing atmosphere. The series currently has 22 albums.

Film Music

Nitin Kumar Gupta composed, wrote and recorded songs for films like Aashiqui.in, Road to Sangam, Shakal Pe Mat Ja, Mutthi Bhar Sapne and Just Gammat with top Indian playback singers including Sukhwinder Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, Kailash Kher, Alka Yagnik, Zubeen Garg, Dev Negi and Honey Singh. Nitin Gupta directed and featured in Marathi film industry's first animated and live mixed music video Bewda Bewda which he also composed.[24] Nitin Gupta also directed and featured in another Marathi music video 'Tujha Bina' which he also composed.

YouTube

His song, Dabang Style, a spoof on Gangnam Style meets Salman Khan from Dabang, went viral on YouTube, as reported in The Times of India.[25] The song was written and sung by him under the nickname N.K.G. Nitin composes and writes children's songs for over 100 channels on YouTube, having gathered over 10 billion combined views. His songs on KidsTV alone have received 5 billion views.

Dolby 5.1 for television

Nitin Kumar Gupta was the first person to mix in Dolby 5.1 for Indian television for the UTV Produced Star Plus show Maayke Se Bandhi Dor. The Dolby episode was telecast on 18 March 2011. He then did the Dolby 5.1 mix for several Indian television shows including Dil Se Di Dua... Saubhagyavati Bhava?, Issi Ka Naam Zindagi, Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai and more.

Awards

Nitin Kumar Gupta received the award for Best Foreign Film Original Score at 'Los Angeles Reel Film Festival' for the songs of Road to Sangam announced on 30 December 2009[26]

Direction and production

Nitin Gupta produced and directed his first film in 2017, titled 'One Night at the Villa' which is a horror film. In 2018, Nitin Gupta directed 'Welcome To Russia', filmed in Russia in two languages, Hindi and Russian, starring Rahul Roy in a negative role and featuring the Sayonee song by Pakistani band Junoon sung by Arijit Singh.[27][28][29][30][31][32] In 2019, Nitin Gupta produced and directed two films. Death Of An Ambassador starred Rahul Roy as bumbling detective Bilas Gupta who has to solve the killing of the ambassador of a fictional country, Aldoria. UnDead is a supernatural romance film based on the true story of Anna Pshenetskaya, a woman whose husband was possessed by the ghost of her ex-lover. In July 2020 Nitin Gupta filmed the film Walk with Rahul Roy based on the migrant workers affected by the pandemic lockdown in India.[33][34][35][36][37][38][39] In November 2020 Nitin Gupta filmed the film LAC based on the Galwan Valley Battle between Indian and Chinese border forces which is Hindi film industry's first film seen in a single shot.[40][41][42][43] On 1 November 2020 Nitin Kumar Gupta released the trailer of his film Sayonee featuring the hit song Sayonee by the band Junoon, sung by Arijit Singh.[44][45][46][47] Nitin Kumar Gupta is the film rights holder of India's first adult comic character Savita Bhabhi and is working on the pre-production of Savita Bhabhi web-series and film[48][49][50]
