Research Work

" Various Illustration Methods of Rajasthan" the thesis was written by NL Verma under the direction of Dr. CS Mehta (Dean) by the Department of Painting, Rajasthan University, Jaipur. This literature is useful and full of information. It is a original book.

Verma has written about this book that in Indian art and culture, the ancient art and culture of Rajasthan also holds an important place in itself. Rajasthan has been famous for its bravery as well as in the field of art. Even today, Rajasthani art has a high place in Indian history, because the king-maharaja here has been heroic as well as art-loving and has been giving shelter to the artists. Artists were respected here. Therefore, being born in the family of painters of Jaipur and understanding the artistic environment here and under the umbrella of Shri Kripal Singh Ji Shekhawat, decorated with revered Guru Padma Shri, I got the opportunity to get training in all the technical experiences related to the traditional style of painting here. . As a result of which I got inspired to do research work on various depiction methods of Rajasthan.

"This is an attempt to present them correctly with systematic description keeping in mind the resources used in Rajasthani painting styles and the method used and the measures to preserve them for a long period of time." Presenting the details of the artistic background of Rajasthan in this thesis, in the first chapter, an attempt has been made to highlight the development of Rajasthani art from the history of the emergence of Indian art. In the second chapter, it has been mentioned in the context of different categories of characters used in Rajasthani paintings. In the third chapter, while describing the method of mural painting of Rajasthan, the difference between the categories of mural painting has been clarified. In the fourth chapter, a detailed description of the technique and material of 'Granth' (book) pictures and Vasali paintings is mentioned. In the fifth chapter, explaining the importance of Pat (Pichhwai) and Phad paintings, its construction method has been described. In the sixth chapter, giving importance to the depiction of leather and wood ivory, mention of the materials used in them and the rules and regulations has done. In the seventh chapter 'Different methods to preserve art' and in the last eighth chapter, the technical form has been described in the form of the epilogue. Apart from this, in the Appendix part, the important material related to painting received from the archives of Bikaner and the mention of paper has been presented with proof.
