She serves as the Executive Director of the Serum Institute of India, the world's largest vaccine manufacturer by volume, and is the Chairperson of the Villoo Poonawalla Foundation, which focuses on healthcare, education, and sanitation initiatives in India . Natasha Poonawalla was born in Pune, Maharashtra, to Pramesh and Minnie Aurora. She attended St. Mary's School in Pune and later graduated from the University of Pune. In 2004, she earned a master's degree from the London School of Economics.

Serum Institute of India

As the Executive Director of the Serum Institute of India, Poonawalla plays a significant role in the strategic operations of the company. The institute, founded by her father-in-law Cyrus S. Poonawalla is renowned for producing vaccines that are distributed globally.[4]

Philanthropy

Poonawalla chairs the Villoo Poonawalla Foundation, established in memory of her mother-in-law. The foundation has initiated several projects, including the establishment of schools, hospitals, and sanitation facilities in Pune. Notably, she invested in advanced membrane technology to treat sewage water, converting it into potable water for the city.[5]

Personal Life

In 2006, Natasha married Adar Poonawalla, CEO of the Serum Institute of India. The couple has two sons, Cyrus and Darius. They reside in Mumbai's Lincoln House, a historic mansion originally built in 1933.[6][7]
