Naoki Terada (寺田 尚樹 'Terada Naoki', born in January 23rd, 1967[1]) is a Japanese architect and a designer. He also founded and is the Director of TERADADESIGN ARCHITECTS[2]. President and Representative Director of Inter Office Co., Ltd[3][4], Senior Vice President of Knoll (company), Ltd[5][6]. He is on the jury of the Good Design Award (Japan)[7], iF Product Design Award[8].
He works in various fields such as architecture, interior, products[9], graphics, sign design[10], and direction. He is also known for direction of product brands, including a paper modeling brand: “TERADAMOKEI[11]”, an ice cream experience brand: “15.0%[12]”, and a furniture brand, “i+[13][14]”.
Biography
Education and Early Career
Naoki Terada received his Bachelor of Architecture in Meiji University (Japan)[15]. Following graduation, he worked for an architecture and design studio in Australia for two and another studio for half year and in Italy for months[16][17]. In 1994 he received his Bachelor of Architecture from the Architectural Association School of Architecture (U.K.)[18]
After coming back to Japan from UK, he started his career as a freelance architect and a designer. Following almost 5 years from coming back, he established his own studio, TERADADESIGN ARCHITECTS in 2003[19].
Brand direction
He career was developed through his product brands such as a 1/100 Architectural Model Accessories Series, “TERADA MOKEI[20]", and an ice cream accessory brand, “15.0%[21]” which is established in 2011[22].
Recent career as senior management
In 2014, he became Director of Inter Office Co., Ltd., and in 2017, he became President and Representative Director of Inter Office Co., Ltd., Senior Vice President of Knoll Japan Co., Ltd. He is also known as a director of a furniture brand, “i+”[23].
