Nana Ama Safowaah,[1] who is also known as Mama Tanto is a Ghanaian gospel singer, songwriter, counselor and a Minister of God's word, the Gospel.

Mama Tanto is the first child of nine children of Daniel Kwarteng and Mary Oteng (Eno Mary), both Asantes from Ntonso and Mampong respectively. She was born on 7 August 1964 at the Komfo Anokye Hospital in the Ashanti Region but lived in Takoradi most of her life.

Early life and education

Nana Ama Safowaah started her early schooling in Collins Avenue Primary (Sekondi-Takoradi) where she completed her Primary and Junior Secondary Education. She then proceeded to Islamic secretariat at Abrepo in the Ashanti Region. Currently, she has a Bachelor's Degree in Family Counseling from Central University College (Prampram – Accra).

Mama Tanto can speak Twi, Fante people, English language, Spanish language and French language.

Apart from music, Mama Tanto has a passion for travelling and trading. She also had an interest in sports. This is evident in her travel to Lagos(Nigeria), Abidjan(Ivory Coast), Barcelona and Madrid(Both of Spain) as a young and upcoming sports lady. She is also into trading activities in Ghana.

Vision

Nana Ama Safowaah entered the gospel industry in 2007 and has since been ministering through music. Her vision is to spread the Gospel of God to all nations and cultures through music. She is doing this in response to the Great Commission of God to us as seen in Matthew 28:18-20. She also avails herself to the service of God for His honour and glory to draw souls to Him, especially the:

  • Poor in Spirit
  • Broken Hearted
  • Captive
  • Blind
  • Oppressed

As a result of her passion and commitment to God's work, she has formed a Ministry of her own. She was formally fellow-shipping with The Apostles' Continuation Church International.

Currently, she has created and duly registered a Ministry called The Bride's Court International Ministry under which she is operating as a Minister of God through music and counseling.

Music career

Nana Ama Safowaah[2] got her calling into Gospel Music Ministry in 2005. Since then she has been an active vocalist in the church where she exhibited her God-given gift. She had written songs and worshipped on different platforms and occasions until she decided to add her voice to the Gospel industry. She has three albums to her credit.

In August 2007, she released her first album titled W’aseda - Twi for "Your Thanksgiving". This album got a lot of attention and airplay from major radio stations. That notwithstanding, she released her second album in 2012, which is titled Tanto[3] - Spanish language|Spanish for "so much", this gave her international recognition and attention. Through this second album, she was able to spread the gospel to various parts of the world not only in Ghana. Due to the exposure she gained, four of her songs on this album gained massive airplay on all media platforms.

She has performed on major platforms and shared stage with renowned gospel artists such as Akosua Agyapong[4] Ceccy Twum[5] and Cee.

In 2019, she released yet another single song titled "Edin No" which is akan for "The Name", in this sense, 'The Name Jesus'.

Currently, she has released her third Album titled Todo Poderoso which is Spanish forAll Powerful. This new album was ushered in by a single song titled "Change Me" on that particular album. Todo Poderoso[6][7] album was released in March 2021.
