"Metal Contra as Nuvens" is a song by brazillian rock band Legião Urbana, contained in their fifth studio album, V. It is the longest song of the band, with a runtime of 11'30".[1] Originally released in 1991, on the album V, ela it got various new versions, being recorded in Acústico MTV (1992), and later on the Como É que Se Diz Eu Te Amo (1994) tour.
Part of the track was recorded on PolyGram's studios, with over 40 Session musician|session musicians hired to play 12 violins, four violas and four cellos.[1]
Interpretation
The lyrics, the narratior is a medieval knight, crossing pits and forests, fighting dragons to defend his castle and princess. The lyrics contain metaphores that reference the middle ages and Renato Russo's personal life.[2]
