Mary Sitarenos is an Australian film and television actor,[1] theatrical actor,[2][3][4][5][6] theatrical director,[7][8][9] librettist,[10] and live world music venue owner and operator.[11]
She appeared in the 1994 Australian movie Only the Brave, the 2001 Australian movie Sensitive New Age Killer,[12] as well as the TV series The Fast Lane, Crash Zone, and The Flying Doctors, and the 1984 Australian mini-series The Young Wife.
Sitarenos was nominated for the 1994 Green Room Award for Female Actor in a Leading Role (Music Theatre).
She won two 2008 Green Room Awards for both Production and Direction in the Theatre - Independent category, for Oedipus, A Poetic Requiem (Inspired By Ted Hughes).[8][13]
Sitarenos is also the co-owner and operator of Melbourne world music venue, Bar Oussou.[11]
She has been active in pursuing intercultural dialogue through the arts, particularly between Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Greece and Senegal and her homeland of Australia.[14][15][16]
