Marri Rajasekhar Reddy is an Indian educationist[1], entrepreneur and politician[2]. He was born on 17th June 1970. He contested as a Member of Parliament in the 17th Lok Sabha from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) representing Malkajgiri (Lok Sabha constituency) Constituency in Telangana.
He is the son of Marri Laxman Reddy founder of the MLR Institute of Technology. He is the Son-In-Law of Malla Reddy, who is the Minister of Labour and Employment in the Telangana Government. He is currently serving as TRS party Malkajgiri parliamentary constituency in-charge.
Early life and Education
Marri Rajasekhar Reddy was born on 17 June 1970 in Hyderabad to Marri Arundhati and Laxman Reddy. He grew up in Bowenpally, Secunderabad. Rajashekhar Reddy completed his schooling at St. Mary's High School[3], Secunderabad and Intermediate from Wesley Junior College[4], Secunderabad.
Political Career
Marri Rajashekhar Reddy began his political journey supporting his Father in law, Ch. Malla Reddy during the 2014 general elections. He actively campaigned for him again in the 2018 Assembly Elections in Telangana. In the 2019 Indian general election, he contested from Malkajgiri parliamentary[5] seat on behalf of the Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) party and was lost by a narrow majority against the TPCC president Revanth Reddy.
Social Initiatives
Marri Rajashekhar Reddy initiated a number of Social awareness campaigns like 'Helmet Drive'[6] to promote road safety among school students. He opened Food and Vegetables Processing unit to benefit farmers in Pudur, Telangana. Similarly, he initiated a number of free health and medical camps. He distributed Livelihood Equipment such as Oil extracting machines, Sugarcane juicer machines [7] and Agricultural equipment[8] worth of Rs.42 Lakhs to the underprivileged people and poor farmers of Dhundigal and Ghatkesar area.He established a hub for Tribal Women in Dhundigal Thanda, with an investment worth of Rs 1.6 Crore. He is also actively campaigning for better facilities and rights for the residents of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board.
Personal Life
He is married to Mamatha Reddy, daughter of Mallareddy[9]. He has a daughter Shreya Reddy and a son Dhiren Reddy.
