Mark Bittlestone is an English comedian and tutor. He is primarily known for his work exploring the topic of homosexuality both as a stand up comedian and on social media.[1][2]

Education

Bittlestone attended King's College School in Wimbledon, London where he achieved the highest possible score of 45 points on the International Baccalaureate. He studied history at the University of Cambridge, attaining a Double First.[3]

Comedy career

Bittlestone was a member of the Cambridge Footlights.[4] His debut solo show, 'Pity Laughs', was performed in Cambridge in January 2017.[5]

Bittlestone performed at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe along with Will Dalrymple in a split bill show named 'Pity Laughs: A Tale of Two Gays'. A reworked version of the show returned in 2018.[6][7]

In 2019, Bittlestone and fellow Footlight Haydn Jenkins performed in a comedy sketch show called 'Llaugh'.[8][9]

Bittlestone uses the online handle @poofsRus on social media.[10] It is a portmanteau of the word poof (slang for a gay man) and the name Toys "R" Us, a toy, clothing and baby product retailer.[11]
