Visual Art

Inspired by punk rock and skate zines of the 1980s, M.Sayyid began to experiment with photo copy zine based art. He evolved during the Freestylin Magazine era of the mid to late 80s. In 1990 M.Sayyid was invited by Andy Jenkins to be in a group show called the Basement. This experience was confidence building and represents the artist doorway into the Arts. Between 1988 and the summer of 1993 the artist immersed himself in research and became self taught in his understanding of movements ranging from Dada to the Neo-expressionism. He returned to imagery in 2007 becoming passionality involved with learning and creating 2D Animation. This work would evolve into a number of 2D motion Posters with short beat based loops. In 2007 M.Sayyid Started expressing himself using the 2D animated imagery and by 2009 he developed a body of digital motion posters including an Illustrated moving Mixtape and a series called infinity and the last laugh which caught the attention of Arts Magazine. In May 2012 Arts Magazine commissioned and printed his work as a 2 page spread titled Samuel, infinity and the last laugh which was a still image from a moving .swf file.
