Lydia Alty (born 5 May 2005) is a British Royal journalist, YouTuber [2] and Campaigner.[3] She is most known for her 'Royal Reporter Lydia' YouTube channel, where she reports on the latest of the British Royal family. The channel has over 60 million views and over 130,000 subscribers. She has appeared on ITV News, and on Sky News radio station.
Early life
Lydia Alty was born in Middlesex, England, on 5th May 2005 and grew up in the Buckinghamshire with her parents, and younger brother, Harry.[4] She attended St Joseph's Catholic Primary School from 2010, when she joined in Reception and left the school at the end of Year 6 in 2016 and then attended secondary school at The Chalfonts Community College from 2016,where she joined year 7, before leaving in late 2023 after her A Levels. During her time at The Chalfonts Community College, at only 16 years old, she released a poem about bullying. She was an Anti Bullying Ambassador for the school from the age of 14 and worked with the Diana Award [5] She is due to join The Open University to Study Health Sciences [6] She works in Early years Education.
Career
Alty started her career in 2018 being a royal reporter. Her content consists of educational royal content, which mainly follows the lives on The Prince and Princess of Wales and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, as well as the King and Queen of the UK. The channel has established it's mark in professional journalism since being around.[7] Since opening the channel, She has featured in many documentaries, including Prince George of Wales at 10 years old special birthday documentary, which she produced. Alongside her professional journalism documentaries, She made her professional TV debut in July 2021 when she joined Alex George on ITV News to talk all about her anti bullying campaign and her online work.[8]
In 2020, Alty set up her very own entertainment company, Lydia A Entertainment, which represents a range of young and upcoming youtubers and social media stars. It was most known for the making of the documentary about His Royal Highness Prince George.[9]. The Entertainment Company is know worldwide for producing content for Lydia A, Royal Reporter Lydia and so many high profile YouTube Channels. Alty was also a radio presenter and in 2020, through the Covid-19 Pandemic she presented shows on Coastal Beat Radio.[10]. Through her early radio career she also starred on Greatest Hits Radio for her Anti Bullying work and presented more shows on River Radio, Radio Christmas and Chiltern Voice.[11]
In November 2021, Lydia was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease, an Autoimmune condition. She was diagnosed at the end of her GCSES.
In July 2022, Alty joined The Diana Award's National Youth Board after being an anti bullying ambassador from 2019 in her school. During her time on the Diana Award's National Anti Bullying Youth board, she started a campaign called ' The Kindness Campaign and wrote a poem called ' Kindness is a Gift' and released a video which collaborated with stars from Britain's Got Talent. She was the face of the Diana Award's 'Don't Face it Alone' Campaign where she spoke about the future of bullying prevention.[12]
Two years after her Coeliac Disease diagnosis in November 2021, she started a campaign called 'Free from Friendly' in September 2021, two years after she wad diagnosed with the autoimmune condition Coeliac Disease[13] The Free From Campaign is a worldwide campaign aiming to lower the price of gluten free food for those suffering serious medical conditions. Due to the high prices of food, She wrote to Rishi Sunak about her new campaign, with a plea for him to reduce, the price of Free From Food. [14]. The Free From Friendly Campaign has been widely recognised and has managed to lower prices of Free From Food in shops such as Tesco, Sainsbury's and Asda, allowing more people to be able to afford free from food.
In April 2023, her royal reporting channel garnered 100,000 subscribers. Lydia was just 17, when she reached it [15] and eighteen when she received the silver play button award in September 2023.
