Lydell Birch (born September 22, 1979), also known by the stage names Moka Blast, Ladies Love Moka, or Blast the Beautiful, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, videographer, and entrepreneur.[1] He worked independently with multiple production companies, music labels, and talent agencies in North America, Europe and Africa. Birch also runs his own barbershop franchise in Las Vegas, launched 2020.[1]

Birch has performed on tours in Europe and North America since 2008, traveling in his first tour in England. He has toured with other hip-hop performing artists, including Lady Leshurr,[2] Slim Thug, and Z-Roz.

Early life

Lydell Birch was born on September 22, 1979 in Trinidad and Tobago] and lived there until the age of 11. In 1991, Lydell and his older brother, Dellroy Birch, relocated to Crown Heights Brooklyn, New York. By 1993 his family had settled down in Jamaica Queens, New York.[3]

Career

In 2014, Moka released a mixtape with DJ Superstar Jay.[4] Birch appeared on the cover of Coast 2 Coast, which ran an interview with him about his experiences.[5]

In 2015, Birch appeared on the cover of Fresh. In the published interview, Birch discussed his tour experiences and video production accomplishments.[3] He also appeared in the late summer 2015 edition of Hypefresh.[6]

In 2016 he released the album Blast Radiius.[7]

Before the release of his second album, The Blast Supper in spring 2017, Birch performed on tour with British musician lady Leshurr in the U.K. From February through May of that year, he also went on a group tour in the U.S.[7]

In February 2018, Birch founded his music production company, FGC Studio, while continuing to tour in Asia, Australia, and Africa. He also began the launch of his clothing line.[2]

By 2019 Birch released his most recent album (as of spring 2021), Hiighly Irritable, with artists such as Lady Leshurr, Sunset Aley, and Ace 1der.[8]
