Luiz Alberto Teixeira Sayão (* April 19, 1963 in São Paulo) is a Brazilian radio producer (Rota 66, Rádio Trans Mundial), lecturer and author on Biblical themes related to Israel. The linguist and Hebraist specialized in the Hebrew Bible and was part of Bible translation teams to convert the Old Testament to modern Brazilian Portuguese.

From 2013 to 2016, he was a rector of the private theological college Seminário Teológico Batista do Sul[1] in Rio de Janeiro. In 2021, he became rector of another theological college, the São Paulo based Faculdade Batista Teológica.[2]

Luiz Sayão's contributions to modern Bible translations include him serving as coordinator of the translation from Hebrew to Brazilian Portuguese of Nova Versão Internacional,[3] exegetical coordinator for the Bíblia Almeida Século 21[4] as well as co-translator of A Mensagem, a highly idiomatic translation of the Bible into contemporary Brazilian Portuguese.

In 2003, Luiz Sayão was awarded the Prize for Literary Character by the Christian Editor's Association of Brazil ABEC.[5][6]

Apart from his academic work, Luiz Sayão hosts a daily radio show Rota 66[7] on Rádio Trans Mundial affiliated to Trans World Radio. He is also a frequent guest in other radio and TV programs in Brazil as well as Israel and leads international study tours to historic biblical sites.

Luiz Sayão authored a number of books in Brazilian Portuguese, some of which have been translated to Spanish. His topics cover biblical and Israel related subjects. Luiz Sayão is also a frequent speaker at biblical congresses in North and South America, Western Europe, Israel and Japan.
