Luis E. Agbayani, more well-known known as Louie Agbayani (June 25, 1956 - July 21, 2020), was a Filipino businessman and politician who served as the 3-term mayor of Sual, Pangasinan in the Ilocos Region of the Philippines.[1]

Early life and education

Agbayani was born on June 25, 1956 in his hometown in Pangasinan to Gov. Aguedo F. Agbayani, a politician, and to Teresita E. Agbayani[2]. He was married to Grace Coronel Agbayani[2]. His father served as the governor of Pangasinan for 18 years [3].

In 1962, Agbayani entered the Ateneo de Manila University as a grade school student, and received an honors diploma during his elementary education there. He again enrolled in Ateneo de Manila University as a high school student. Agbayani also earned his honors diploma during high-school.

Agbayani then went on to study business administration at the University of the Philippines Diliman in 1973. After his undergraduate studies in 1978, he took up a master's degree in industrial engineering during the same year. However, in 1980, he changed his course to a master's degree in business administration—he graduated in 1982.

Early career

Agbayani served as the private secretary of Gov. Agueco F. Agbayani during his time in office as the governor of Pangasinan at the Pangasinan Provincial Capitol.

After being a private secretary, he served as a lecturer in his alma mater, University of the Philippines Diliman. During his time as a lecturer, he taught management and business policy at the College of Business Administration from 1982 to 1985.

Business career

In 1982, he entered the Philippine National Bank, in Escolta, Manila, as a trainee. He then served as an assistant manager under different departments until 1987. Agbayani then became a senior assistant manager and manager for the Philippine National Bank with different departments until 1991.

After being a manager, Agbayani worked as the director of the PNB Credit Card Corporation from 1992 to 1996.

Political career

From 1995 to 2004, Agbayani served as the mayor of his hometown of Sual, Pangasinan [1][4][5]. During his time in office, Agbayani performed his duties as mayor for three terms straight. Agbayani was better-known by his constituents as Mayor Louie Agbayani.

Death

Agbayani passed away on July 21, 2020 at the age of 64.
