Early life and education

Lil Conscious, originally named Stefan Islas Ross, was born and raised in Sierra Blanca, Texas. He completed his senior high school education in 2013. Throughout his formative years, he underwent a distinct sense of detachment from his immediate surroundings, which eventually led to the development of an alter ego known as Lil Conscious. This artistic identity served as a channel for articulating his ideas, sentiments, and creative visions, which he channeled into his musical output.

Career

Lil Conscious entered the music industry at 17, debuting with his first mixtape, "Barely Conscious." This release garnered notable attention, paving the way for subsequent mixtapes, namely "Conscience" and "Phase 1," showcasing engaging freestyles that resonated with an expanding audience.[6][7]

Facing personal challenges, Lil Conscious took a hiatus in 2016 due to mental health issues.[8] As a result, he chose to withdraw from the public eye, deleting his social media accounts and removing his music from streaming platforms.[9]

Lil Conscious reemerged on the music scene in May 2018, signaling his return with a new album.[10] Among his notable releases is the track "Bojak," which was unveiled on SoundCloud. The song quickly garnered attention, amassing over a million views within just four months.[11]

In continuation, Lil Conscious presented the album "Barely Conscious," featuring the track "Ashes." Both "Ashes" and "Bojak" secured positions on the iTunes charts, with "Ashes" at the 66th spot and "Bojak" at the 93rd. Lil Conscious also garnered attention from media platforms, including a feature on the "Before They Were Famous" YouTube channel.[12]

In October 2019, Canadian rapper Drake shared a video where he danced to one of Lil Conscious' tracks. This endorsement by Drake played a pivotal role in solidifying Lil Conscious' popularity and presence within the music landscape.[13][14]

In the same year, Lil Conscious entered into a partnership with OVO Records, receiving co-signs from notable figures such as Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, Trippie Redd, and Diplo.[15][16]
