Leigh Scott (* 18. Februar 1978 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is an American Director, Producer, editor and Screenwriter, best know for his association with the production company The Asylum.

Early Life

Scott was born in Milwaukee, WI and is the eldest of three children. His father Benjamin Slawner was a hotelier who worked for the Wyndam hotel chain. His mother was a school teacher and artist. Scott graduated from Rufus King High School with honors before attending the USC School of Cinematic Arts. At USC he was President of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity with many other film industry professionals including Eric Kripke, Brad Abelson and Steven Hein. While still in school, Scott worked for legendary B movie producer Roger Corman. He produced and directed his first feature film Beach House starring Norman Fell, Brooke Langton, Chris Hardwick, and Dalton James in 1996 followed by Art House in 1998 starring Hardwick, Jacinda Barret, and Adam Carolla.

The Asylum

In 2005, Scott went to work at the low budget studio The Asylum initially as a Line producer|Line Producer for the film War of the Worlds, the first Mockbuster, but would go on to write and direct several films for the company including the notorious Transmorphers and the cult classic The Beast of Bray Road.

Post Asylum Independent Film Success

Scott left the Asylum over creative differences regarding the release of Transorphers[1] and would help establish Active Entertainment in Lafayette, LA. There he would write, direct and produce multiple films for the Syfy Channel and Image entertainment including Wolvesbayne directed by Griff Furst and starring Yancy Butler and Marc Decascos and The Darkest Evil with Dean Stockwell and Jeffrey Combs based on The Dunwich Horror by Hp Lovecraft.

The Witches of Oz and Commercial Projects

Scott left Active Entertainment to form The Imaginarium in Norwalk CT, working out of the Palace Producution center in 2010. The first production witth the new company was the international hit mini-series The Witches of Oz, featuring Christopher Lloyd, Billy Boyd, Eliza Swenson, Sasha Jackson, Ethan Embry, Mia Sara, Lance Henriksen and Jeffrey Combs. He followed up Oz with The Penny Dreadful Picture show with Sid Haig and Jeffrey Combs. With Imaginarium he also produced Officer Down with Stephen Dorff, James Woods, Stephen Lang, Dominic Percel, Analynne McCord and Walton Goggins. He also financed and produced the international hit Pawn with Forrest Whitaker, Nikki Reed, Jessica Szhor, Ray Liotta and Michael Chiklis. He also expanded into commercial work doing nartional ad campaigns for Conair and Homeserve as well as producing and directing a documentary for PBS.

Return to Lousiana and MSR Media

In 2018, Scott returned to Lafayette, LA to produce and oversee two Christmas films for the Ion Television|ION network.. Scott produced and was cinematographer on the film Christmas Cupid's Arrow starring Jonathan Togo, Chad Michael Collins and Elizabeth Harnois. He directed and shot the incredibly successful, highly rated A New Lease on Christmas starring Claire Coffee and George Stults

Scott briefly relocated to Las Vegas, NV to develop projects with frequent collaborators Sean-Michael Argo, Andrew Hunt and Michael Whiteacre, but was quickly recruited by Philippe Martinez to work with MSR Media in St. Kitts and Nevis. With MSR, Scott has produced The Island with Michael Jai White|Michael Jai White, Strictly Confidential with Elizabeth Hurley, Black Noise with Alex Pettyfer, Jackson Rathbone and Sadie Newman[2] as well as direct and produce a new, dark fantasy version of The Little Mermaid.
