Kryptex is a software company that offers a cryptocurrency mining ecosystem, including mining pools, cryptocurrency mining software, firmware, tools, as well as information and educational resources for miners. Founded in August 2016 by Max Malysh, the company operates worldwide.
History
Kryptex was founded in August 2016 by Max Malysh with the goal of making cryptocurrency mining accessible to a wider audience. The company launched its flagship Kryptex Miner, a Windows-based application that allows users to earn cryptocurrency by utilizing their computer's processing power. Kryptex aggregates the computational resources of thousands of personal computers to perform complex distributed cryptocurrency computations, rewarding users based on their CPU and GPU performance.
Since its inception, Kryptex has expanded its services, introducing Kryptex Pro, an advanced version of its mining software tailored for professional miners. The company has also launched Kryptex OS, a specialized operating system optimized for mining operations, and a mobile app to help users track their earnings in real time.
In April 2020, Kryptex launched a public Ethereum mining pool which was one of the biggest producers of Ethereum until the PoS transition. As a result, Kryptex Pool mined Ethereum’s London hard fork in August 2021.
In September 2021, Kryptex faced a significant challenge when Ethereum mining pool experienced an unexpected DDoS attack. To compensate affected miners, the company distributed 185 ETH ($750,000) among users impacted by the network disruption. This event underscored Kryptex’s commitment to its mining community, ensuring fairness and transparency in its operations.
In September 2023, Kryptex announced a strategic move beyond traditional cryptocurrency mining by introducing a platform that connects GPU owners with businesses requiring high-performance computing for artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) tasks. This initiative aims to provide users with an alternative revenue stream by renting out their GPUs for AI training rather than cryptocurrency mining.
In February 2024, Kryptex Pool pivoted from supporting GPU-only coins and launched ASIC mining for the major PoW cryptocurrencies, most notably Bitcoin and Litecoin, and became the largest mining pool for Fractal Bitcoin.
Products and Services
Kryptex provides cryptocurrency mining and computing solutions through its software and infrastructure.
The company's first product, Kryptex Miner, is a Windows-based application that allows users to mine cryptocurrencies using their computer’s CPU and GPU processing power. Kryptex Pro, an advanced version of the mining software, offers additional features for users seeking greater efficiency and control. To support mining operations, Kryptex introduced Kryptex OS, a dedicated operating system designed to optimize hardware performance.
Kryptex also launched public mining pools for the major cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC). The company’s mining pool supports the entire range of mining devices (CPU, GPU, FPGA, ASIC) while providing an option to receive payouts in Bitcoin (BTC). Other notable features include real-time monitoring, geographically distributed infrastructure, and a mobile application.
In addition to mining-related services, Kryptex has expanded into high-performance computing applications. In 2023, the company launched a GPU rental platform, allowing users to allocate their processing power for artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) tasks. This initiative aims to provide an alternative use for computational resources beyond cryptocurrency mining. Kryptex also offers a mobile application, enabling users to monitor their mining activity and earnings remotely.
