Kostka Bojana (born July 24, 1979 Krusevac)[1] is a Serbia|Serbian nail designer, artist and founder of the Kostka Nail System cosmetic brand[2][3].

Career

In 1999, during the bombing of Serbia and the state of Bombing of Serbia [4], Kostka Bojana opened one of the first Nail salon|nail salons at the time called Charisma[5]. The circumstances in which Serbia and its Serbs|people found themselves at that time were not favorable for life, and even less for cosmetic services. Soon after the bombing, sanctions followed[6]. After the Economic embargo, the Economy of Serbian economy collapsed. The borders were closed, both for passengers and for any type of import[7]. This situation directly affected the beginning of Kostka's career, because it was not possible to buy basic material for her work[8]. After the embargo, there were electricity restrictions that lasted from 8 to 12 hours, every day [9]. Without materials for work, without electricity, while the citizens of Serbia hid in the basements of their houses and shelters, Kostka was forced to improvise in her work, in order to keep her clients.

Recognizable for her improvisations and creativity[10], she soon became famous in the nail industry [11]. Her Design|designs were completely different from anything that existed in nail art at the time. She soon became known for her extremely long nails and the design[12] that always contained skulls.

The first reactions of the public were very stormy, but, unfortunately, negative. She was often publicly called an extremist and a member of a sect, sometimes even a witch. On the other hand, even if the motives of her designs at the time were strange, her technical abilities and creativity[13] were at an enviable level, which attracted an avant-garde audience.

Soon Kostka's work became the subject of interest in the nail magazines [14] [15][16]. Kostka's salon became full of clients. For the first ten years of her career, Kostka practiced working with many clients throughout Serbia. In the period from 2000 to 2005, she trained numerous people to work in the salon. As soon as the borders opened, Kostka began traveling to provide education services and teach other technicians her skills. She reached the peak of her career when she designed and patented special shapes[10] that she called Forms [17] [18] [19] [20] [21]. Until then, they called her a witch, now they call her art magic, only this time with a completely different meaning. Kostka's work has become the subject of interest of theorganizers of various internationalcompetitions. At the beginning, she was invited as a competitor, where she won many first places. She soon became a judge in many competitions, including the 2015 World championship|World Championship in Austria[22]. Between 2009 and 2020, Kostka traveled around the world as an international master educator and trained numerous nail designers worldwide[23] [24]. In 2017, she founded her own brand Kostka Nail System [25] [26], known for gels for building extreme shapes, which are produced according to her own formulations. Shortly afterwards, in 2018, she expanded the range of her brand with handmade accessories, nail gels and salon furniture designed by Kostka herself. In 2019, the name "Kostka Bojana" [27] became a patented brand that currently operates in 23 countries in the EU, Russia and the United Kingdom. In 2019, Kostka forms a small community of 300 renowned nail designers[28], who are in charge of presenting and promoting Kostka style and the Kostka brand.
