Klaus Isele (Born 06.12.1980 in Bregenz) living in Dornbirn, is an Austrian Osteopath (MSc D.O.), CEO of Therapierbar, physiotherapist and certified sport climbing trainer.

Career

Klaus Isele is founder (2011), owner and CEO of the Therapierbar – a practice for osteopathy, physiotherapy and pain therapy with various locations in Schwarzach, Hohenems, Lingenau and Bregenz. From 2009 - 2019 he supported the Austrian Climbing Team and accompanied the climbers during international competitions. From 2017 - 2019 he supported the professional climber Adam Ondra, with whom he worked together on Adams project „Silence“, which he could send in September 2017. By sending this route, Adam Ondra set a new milestone in climbing history by opening the grade 9c with Silence, (Flatanger, Norway)[1][2][3][4]

Isele-Method[10]

Working as physiotherapist and osteopath with professional athletes for many years and investigating the possibilities of new treatment methods as part of his Master studies (2016), Klaus developed a new local osteopathic, conservative treatment method for climbing induced finger pain – the Isele-method. This method was proved to reduce finger pain in a randomized, controlled pilot study trial. It was shown that the intensity of finger pain was reduced significantly after one treatment (54 out of 60 participants), for chronic as well as for acute complaints. The method allows a fast return to the daily training routine, most of the time already 48 hours after the treatment. The treatment with the Isele-method made it possible for the participants to increase the training intensity immediately. Moreover the goal of this treatment is to increase life quality of the patients by enabling them to come back to training and routines quickly.[11]

Climbing Physios[12]

The platform Climbing Physios was founded by Klaus Isele in 2018. It is a constantly growing, worldwide network of climbing physiotherapists who support professional athletes. The aim of this network is the fast exchange of knowledge. It is created to be able to share information about injuries and treatments. Moreover the network is used for sharing experience based information about trends and innovations. Current board members are: Paul Houghoughi (UK), Zack DiChristino (US) and Ryuichiro Tomizawa (JPN).[13]
