Kiari Treval Mhoon (born August 11, 1993) is an American singer, songwriter and dancer. Mhoon gained notice in 2020 as a contestant on season 19 of The Voice. Since then, on May 6, 2022 he released his third studio album "Imagine".Later that year, the lead single "I Can Imagine" went viral on TikTok.[1] Prior to The Voice, Mhoon was recognized by major radio station WCCG 104.5 FM the Hip Hop station and WZFX Foxy 99.1 FM of Fayetteville, NC.

Early life and education

Growing up, Mhoon used dance as a way of coping with the stress of his surroundings and then turned to music at the behest of his dance teacher Keith Clowers.[2] His father Terry Mhoon recognized his talent very early on and would make him sing every night at the dinner table. After being coached by his father, he would participate in local talent shows around his home town.

Mhoon was raised in Blytheville, Arkansas where he attended Blytheville Middle School . He attended Unborn Gift International Ministry and graduated from West Creek High School of Clarksville Tennessee.

Career

In 2016, Mhoon competed in the Washington’s Evergreen State Singer competition winning him a number one spot to open up for five time Grammy Nominated superstar Hunter Hayes. One of Mhoon's first singles Yo Ex was played on WZFX in Fayetteville, NC. The song instantly caught the attention of surrounding A&Rs. On May 28, 2020 Mhoon shared his love of music in the latest installment of “Hay Street Live,” a weekly online music series sponsored by the Arts Council of Fayetteville-Cumberland County.[3]

In late 2020, Mhoon appeared on season 19 of The Voice when he was 26 years old.[4] He performed during the blind auditions unfortunately receiving no chair turns from the judges.

On March 8, 2022 Kiari had the honor to sing for the 46th President of the United States, Joe Biden, during a Presidential Town Hall in Forth Worth, Texas.[5]

On May 6, 2022, Kiari released his third studio album titled IMAGINE on to top music streaming platforms. The song "I Can Imagine" was released as his first single. The song expressed the meaning of being free from judgment bondage and being who you really are.

Personal life

Mhoon married his husband Derion Lewis on October 24, 2016 after just one year of dating.
