The main campus of Kansas State Institution may be found in Manhattan, Kansas, in the United States. Kansas State University, often known as K-State, is a public land-grant research university. It was the first publicly funded institution of higher education in the state of Kansas when it initially opened its doors in 1863 as the land-grant college for the state. It reached a new all-time high enrolment of 24,766 students for the semester that began in the fall of 2014.

The institution has been designated as a member of the "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity" category. Academic programmes at Kansas State University are overseen by a total of nine schools, including the College of Veterinary Medicine and the College of Technology and Aviation, all of which are located in Salina. There are 65 master's degree programmes and 45 doctorate degree programmes among the available graduate degrees.

Salina and Olathe each have their own branch campuses. The College of Technology and Aviation at Kansas State University is located on the Salina Aerospace and Technology Campus in Salina. At the Olathe Innovation Campus, graduate studies in research bioenergy, animal health, plant science, and food safety and security are prioritised.

Kansas State University was established in Manhattan on February 16, 1863, during the American Civil War, as a land-grant college in accordance with the Morrill Act. At the time, the university went by its original name, Kansas State Agricultural College. Under the Morrill Act, this institution was the very first land-grant college to be established. K-State University is the oldest public institution of higher education in the state of Kansas, as well as the third-oldest school in the Big 12 Conference.
