Joshua Usoro (born 2nd April, 1992 in Port Harcourt) also known by his stage name Jason (formerly 9Jason) is an entrepreneur, singer, and dancer. In 2019, he broke the Guinness Word Record for the Longest Dance Marathon Relay after dancing for 53 hours, 28 minutes, and 47 seconds[1].[2]

Early Life and Education

Joshua Usoro was born in Port Harcourt but hails from Akwa-Ibom State, Nigeria. He attended Montessori International School, Port Harcourt for his primary education. After primary school, Jason enrolled into Dansol High School, Ikeja, Lagos in 2002. In 2006, he transferred from Dansol High School to Hallel College, Port Harcourt where he completed his secondary education in 2008. Thereafter, he proceeded to Covenant University, Ota to study for a degree in Management Information System.

Career

Dancer

He participated in his first dance competition in 2010 when he signed up for the Malta Guinness Street Dance competition and ended up among the top five contestants. In 2012, he participated in Maltina Dance All and was placed among the top ten in the Port Harcourt (South-South) region. He first came into spotlight in 2017 when he attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the Longest Dance Marathon by an Individual which at the time, was held by Kalamandalam Hemalatha of India. After dancing for 63 hours and 15 minutes, Jason announced that he had pulled out of his attempt.[3] After his failed attempt, he went back to re-train and re-strategize before returning about two years later to launch another attempt. On 6 April 2019, Joshua Usoro and his ‘‘Team Jason’’ (all Nigeria), broke the Guinness World Record for the Longest Dance Marathon Relay after dancing for 53 hours, 28 minutes, and 47 seconds in Lagos, Nigeria.[1][2]

Music

Before he became known for his exploits as a dancer, Joshua Usoro made a grand debut entry into the music scene with ‘IROBOSKEE’ which was produced by David Young & Video and directed by the celebrated cinematographer 'MEX'[4]

Software development

Joshua Usoro also runs a software development company known as Blueportal Company which he started in 2018. Since inception, the company has built web and mobile applications as well as accounting software for various organizations and products, including Our Daily Manna (ODM), Kaffy Inc, Sparklyn Group, and Kohinoor Hospitalities etc.[5]

Gaming app development In 2020, Joshua Usoro and his team at Blueportal Company began to build gaming apps. Subsequently, they built the first Nollywood gaming app ‘‘Aki and Pawpaw Epic Run’’ for Playnetwork Studios to herald a new dispensation in the Nigerian games’ development arena.

Personal Life

Joshua Usoro is the last of four children. He has a brother and two sisters. He calls himself a dreamer because he believes that nothing is impossible. If you can dream it, you can achieve it.
