Joseph Kapandula Jr[1] (born 9 May 1993), professionally known by his stage name DJ Foxx Tha Roc is a Zambian DJ, musician and media personality from Itezhi Tezhi, Zambia. [2]

Foxx has hosted numerous productions for radio, television and public events such as Miss Independence, broadcast to millions of people in Zambia.[2] [1]

He released his debut single "Extreme" in 2019 and made digital releases of his two singles, "Nyash" and "Boss" in 2020. [3]

Early life

Foxx was born in Kabwe and is the first born in a family of two.

He attended his primary school at Kasenje basic school in Kafue before moving to Uphill basic school.

Foxx later attended and completed his high school at Monze boarding high school where he was an active member in the school basketball team. In 2015 he enrolled into the school of Journalism and Media studies at Zambia Centre for Professional Training and Consultancy[4] [5]

Career

In his 20's, Foxx developed a passion for television. He was until early 2015 a freelance DJ on Zambia's privately owned CBC Television. He also featured on Prime Television live broadcasts of The full package, for three months, before its cancellation in mid 2015. Recently, his voice has been heard on many radio spots across Zambia on privately owned I-wave fm radio where he was voice narrator for over a year.[6]

Foxx was host DJ for Miss ITT Beauty Contest 2019 held in central Zambia. It was sponsored by DStv.[5] [7]

He was the main anchor of the governance show Atulyambilile which aired on Itezhi-Tezhi District local station, Itezhi Tezhi FM. It was sponsored by BBC Media Action under it's Radio waves and Zambia speaks projects.[8] He presented the show from 2016 to 2019. [9]

In 2016, Foxx was one of the journalists assigned to cover Zambia's vice president Inonge Wina during her visit to Itezhi Tezhi.[10]

He was described as "top music DJ in 2020" by the sun news paper after collaborations with young artists including female singer Lexy ZM.[11]

Currently, he is an on air presenter and News anchor for privately owned ITT radio 90.9 FM

In 2020 he presented a weekly radio show which featured health experts after the outbreak of the Coronavirus.[12]

Events and other work ventures

In 2018, Foxx worked with the Ministry of Health (Zambia) on a Life Is Precious project to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS and drug abuse among young people in Itezhi Tezhi through music, drama and entertainment.

Foxx also held the position of vice Chairperson for the youth coordinating committee and worked with the district commissioner's office and Ministry of General Education.

He moderated public school debates in Itezhi Tezhi District after the ministry of education launched the Keeping Girls in School program in 2018. [13] [14]

Foxx also hosted wildlife conservation weekly shows for 4 seasons on ITT FM radio with Game Rangers International featuring it's outreach officer Britius Munkombwe. [15] The program was sponsored by National milling corporation.[16]

Work and violation Issues

In 2016, Foxx stopped working for close to a month after his employer station, Itezhi Tezhi FM was suspended by the Independent broadcasting authority (IBA).[17] The authority accused the radio station of violation and not following rules of broadcasting by one of the presenters.[18] Some however felt the suspension was unfair.[19][20]

Foxx started work again after the stations suspension was lifted.[21]
