Jorge Iván del Valle (born 10 August 1991, Tuluá - Colombia) is a Colombian swimmer awarded 2 of 3 open sea crowns.[1] He currently resides in United States where he come after being threatened in Colombia. [2]

Swimming career

Club

Del Valle began swimming the first time in Cortuluá Swimming Club at 7 years old, after his mother discovered his love for swimming, but was at Departmental Children's Swimming Festival in 2001 where he got his first gold medall, at 10 years old.

Collegiate

Jorge Iván postponed his sports dreams for later and concentrated on his college career in 'Área Andina' University. He always wanted to study at the Autonomous University of Cali, so with two semesters left to finish his degree, he does everything as possible so that these two universities sign agreements and he can go on an exchange and finish his studies in Cali, where he resumes his sports exercises and achieves the first swimming medal in national university games for his university in the 'Área Andina'.

Since 2017 he started training and competing in open water: rivers, lakes and seas.

International

Del Valle, who participated in the 2019 FINA World Masters Championships in Gwangju (South Korea),[3] this year hoped to compete in Havana (Cuba) and the Pan American Masters in Medellín. But their planes were cut short

Medals

First Swimming Crown: First Colombian to swim across the Catalina Channel July 2022,[4] Second swimming crown: Manhattan Island turn August 2022,[1] South American Champion Master of Swimming Races, [5] South American Open Water Master Champion.[6]
