John A. Bolodeoku is (born 20 June 1962, London) is a Chemical Pathologist, Pharmaceutical Physician, and Entrepreneur.[1] He is lending his services at North Hampshire Hospital as an Honorary Consultant in Cardiology. He is also a member of Royal College Pathology.[2]

Early life

Dr John Bolodeoku completed his MBBS in 1986 from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He returned to the UK and started as House/Senior House Physician in General Medicine at Seacroft/Killingbeck Hospitals in Leeds, then continued In General Medicine as Senior House Physician at Sutton General Hospital, From, there he moved on to start his post-graduate in Chemical Pathology and Human Metabolism as a registrar in Chemical Pathology at St Helier Hospital, Carshalton, and St Georges Hospital Medical School, London. During this time, he completed a master’s in clinical biochemistry (MSc) from the University of London. He then went off to pursue his doctorate training taking a position at Nuffield Department of Pathology at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford in Molecular Pathology and was awarded a doctorate (DPhil). He returned to complete his training and subsequently was appointed Senior Registrar/Clinical Lecturer at the Department of Chemical Pathology and Human Metabolism at Royal Free Medical School, London. He completed his training in Chemical Pathology in 1998 and was awarded his completion of specialist training in the UK (UK-CCST) and Membership of the Royal College of Pathology (MRCPath). Later awarded an FRCPath and European Specialist Laboratory Medicine (EuSpLM).[3]

Later Career Life

He decided to venture into the Pharmaceutical Industry, starting as a Clinical Research Physician in BIOS - a Consulting and Contract Research Organisation.[4][5] He subsequently worked for BIOS Consultancy, Pfizer, Yamanuochi, Astellas, Daichi Sankyo, Teva, Roche, Biogen Idec, ICON Solutions, NAPP, Lilly, Celgene, Novartis, MSD, UCB in various position in Clinical Drug Development and Medical Affairs.[6][7] Holding very senior leadership roles in the industry such as Country Medical Director for Biogen Idec, UK, as Country Medical Director for Celgene, UK and as Country Medical Director for Roche Ireland, Medical Director (Medical Affairs & Health Economics) for Yamanouchi Europe and VP (Medical Affairs & Health Economics) for Astellas Europe. During that time, he gained a Certificate of Professional Management from the Open University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Liverpool.[8]

Awards

John Bolodeoku won the British Journal of Hematology Research Trust Fellow Award and also received the Association of the clinical pathologist's travel grant in the year 1994. He was awarded the Fellowship of Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath) in 2008.
