Jessica Lee (aka J. Lee, born January 27, 1990) is a Korean-born adoptee and Los Angeles-based actress, model, and humanitarian.

J. Lee's modeling and acting credits include a global ad campaign for United Airlines, Asics Yoga, Chevy, Ford, Nespresso, Reebok, General Hospital (2018-20), Netflix Guardians of Justice (2022), and most notably, as briefcase model #16 ("Sweet 16") on Deal or No Deal (2018-19) hosted by Howie Mandel.[1][2]

Early Life

Jessica Lee was born in Seoul, Korea, adopted from a Korean orphanage, and raised in Colorado before moving to Los Angeles.

At a young age, Lee focused on being a performer and giving back to others. She spent her childhood making up songs and dances and putting on shows and photoshoots. By the time she was in second grade, Lee signed with her first agent and spent her elementary through high school years acting in local theatre productions, working on local photo shoots, commercials, films, and live touring performances. Some of Lee's early modeling jobs included AT&T, 1st Bank, McGraw Hill, State Farm, and Celestial Seasonings commercials.[3]

Lee came to Los Angeles to pursue her childhood dreams of modeling and acting and giving back to the community.

Career

Since coming to Los Angeles, J. Lee has worked on a broad range of projects.[4][5]

The shows have included Deal or No Deal, General Hospital, Netflix Guardians of Justice, Syfy’s Faceoff, Hit the Floor, How I Met Your Mother, and working with Malcolm McDowell on Franklin and Bash. She has been in numerous music videos such as Jason Derulo’s 'If It Ain't Love' , Nickelback’s 'She Keeps Me Up', Missy Elliott’s 'WTF', Kendrick Lamar’s 'These Walls' and Logic & Marshmello's ‘Everyday.’

And worked in films with some well-known Hollywood actors, including a cameo in ‘Bad Ass’ alongside Danny Trejo, and French Stewart in ‘30 Nights of Paranormal Activity With the Devil Inside the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’, as well as the 2012 ‘Total Recall’ with Colin Farrell. Lee is also a Voice actor, dubbing in several Netflix films, including Girl from Nowhere (2021) and for the lead actress in Super Me (2021).[6]

Lee has been in several commercial campaigns, including a global ad and billboard campaign for United Airlines, Asics Yoga, Chevy, Ford, Lexus, OnStar, Reebok, Axe Hair, Morningstar Farms, BABA Elaichi with Akshay Kumar, a promotion with Howie Mandel on America's Got Talent, and a Nespresso commercial with George Clooney and Danny DeVito.

J. Lee was engaged to participate in and document a "last supper" in the Mattel family's legendary Barbie penthouse.[7]

As a content creator, she has worked with several brands and PR companies, including Chocolove, Suja, Nouveau Communications, Mashup LA, Canyon Country LA, and TinySponsor.

Lee is frequently invited to attend Los Angeles-based Red Carpet premieres and events.[8]

Giving Back

J. Lee has exhibited a spirit of generosity, giving back to the community and helping those in need. She has been actively volunteering from a young age.

As a Korean-born adoptee, Lee appreciates the importance of family, mentoring, and education. She is an avid reader and interested in diverse topics. Lee has shown a passion for working with and inspiring kids to achieve their dreams. As the Volunteer Co-chair of the Literacy program at Reading to Kids, she works with children in under-served elementary schools. Lee has invested over 2000 hours and led 100+ reading sessions impacting thousands of kids.[9]

Lee has volunteered, partnered, and worked with nonprofits and charities for over 15 years, including Reading to Kids, Special Olympics, The Brail Institute, Venice Family Clinic, Children’s Hospital, Gobble Gobble Drive, and Operation Santa.[10]

In 2018, Lee had the opportunity to initiate, organize, and co-host a 700-meal Thanksgiving dinner for families who lost their homes and were impacted by the Southern California fires.[11]

Being well known as model #16 ("Sweet 16") on Deal or No Deal,[12] she has been able to stay visible and connected in the Los Angeles community and continue to give back.
