Jay Vinson (born October 4, 1990) is an American-Certified Spiritual Coach, Entrepreneur, Author, and Televangelist best known for preaching Christianity as a licensed minister in the Church of God.[1][2] He is the founder of three organizations: Jay Vinson Ministries, JJV Enterprises, and Elite Sports Production, all based in Atlanta, Georgia.[3] Vinson is also a renowned author of two books—Pain to Purpose and Stepping Into Greatness: From Pain to Purpose and Promise.[4][5]

Vinson was honored as the 2021 Man of the Year by Making Headline News.

Early life and education

Vinson was born on October 4, 1990, to Jimmy Vinson (father) and Shirley Vinson (mother) in Montgomery, Alabama. In 2010, Jay enrolled at Auburn University, pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mass Communication. After that, he completed his Masters in Instructional Technology at the University of West Georgia. Vinson also obtained a Life Coach certification from Lamad University.

Career

Vinson was licensed as a minister in the Church of God in Christ and began preaching at the age of fifteen.[6] In 2012, he was appointed Lead Pastor of Outreach Ministries in Tuskegee, Alabama, following the loss of his grandmother, who led the ministry until her death. The ministry saw immense growth under his direction.[7] After that, Vinson spent a lot of time in prayer before being directed by God to change the ministry's name and transform it from an independent to a non-denominational one. As of October 2019, he has been serving as Lead Pastor at True Life Church in Tuskegee, AL.[8]

Vinson started his professional career while pursuing his college education.[9] He worked as a camera operator and video editor for NBC Universal Comcast Sports Southeast.[10] After the company went out of business in 2014, Vinson enrolled back in college to pursue his master's degree from the University of West Georgia.[11] While in graduate school, he worked for the football program at the University of West Georgia as a camera operator until he graduated in 2017. During this time, he also worked for professional teams like the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Braves, and Gwinnett Stripers.[12]

In 2017, Vinson launched himself into academia and started his journey as a middle school teacher.[13]

In 2020, Vinson released his first book, Pain to Purpose, which landed him an interview on MyPraise 102.5 Atlanta Radio Station with Ed Long and Bre Singleton.[14] In the middle of the pandemic, Vinson launched his businesses, Jay Vinson Ministries and JJV Enterprises. Additionally, he began working on his second book, Stepping Into Greatness: From Pain to Purpose & Promise, which was released in November 2020.[15][16]

In 2021, Vinson launched his new inspirational television show that aired worldwide on Preach The Word Network every Wednesday morning.[17] During the same year, he was featured on Atlanta Live and Books of the Month Show, where he took a deeper dive into his books.[18] Besides his business, Vinson has coached several young men through his Stepping Into Greatness coaching academy.[19]
