Jason Walsh
Jason Walsh is an American fitness trainer and entrepreneur known for training actors for physically demanding film roles.[1] He is the founder of Rise Movement, a training studio in West Hollywood, and the creator of Rise Nation, a VersaClimber-based group fitness concept founded in 2014. In 2024, he became a co-founder and the public face of RISE311, a plant-based protein brand. Walsh’s known clients include Bradley Cooper, Matt Damon, Brie Larson, Emma Stone, John Krasinski, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Pedro Pascal, among countless others.
Early life
Walsh was born on November 17, 1975, and is a Missouri native. He was raised as an only child by his mother. He credits his uncle John, described as a naturalist, survivalist, and climber, as the early influence who helped shape his interest in physical fitness and healthy eating.
Education
Walsh earned a B.A. in Exercise & Sport Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with studies focused on nutrition, kinesiology, and physiology.[1] During college, he was mentored by Olympic coach Greg Gatz.
Personal life
Walsh is known as an outdoorsman. In 2016, he began dating actress and singer Hilary Duff and made their relationship public in October of that year.[2]
Career
Walsh’s celebrity training and film preparation focus on designing training programs and body transformations for film and television roles. Some of his most notable work was for Bradley Cooper in American Sniper, Matt Damon in the Jason Bourne series, Brie Larson in Captain Marvel, Emma Stone in Battle of the Sexes, John Krasinski in 13 Hours, Amy Adams in American Hustle, Alison Brie in GLOW, Jake Gyllenhaal in Road House, and Pedro Pascal in Gladiator II as well as The Fantastic Four: First Steps.[1][3]
In 2014, Walsh founded Rise Nation, a group fitness concept centered on VersaClimber workouts.[4][5] The brand expanded beyond Los Angeles to multiple locations across the United States and around the world.
Walsh also founded Rise Movement, a training studio based in West Hollywood.[6][7] It serves as both a personal training facility and a hub connected to his broader fitness methodology and brand.
In 2024, Walsh co-founded RISE311, a plant-based protein brand. He has been described as a hands-on co-founder and the brand’s public face.[8][9] The product is positioned as addressing digestive issues while performing comparably to whey protein, without the thick or chalky texture often associated with plant-based powders.
