Janice Delima Tentler (born October 12, 1982) is a Filipino-American fashion entrepreneur, business executive, and philanthropist. Tentler is best known for founding Alegre De Pilipinas, LLC, a U.S.-based marketing firm dedicated to showcasing Filipino fashion industry talents globally.[1][2][3]

Tentler engages in philanthropy and advocacy for global poverty and assists disaster-affected areas and environmental, and mental health causes.[4][5] She has been recognized as one of the top women entrepreneurs to watch in 2023 and has received notable accolades, including the Diamond Excellence Award Woman of Excellence in October 2023 and titles such as Mrs. Universe Philippines 2023 and Mrs. Great Lakes Earth USA in 2022.[6]

Early life and education

Tentler was born on October 12, 1982, in Inopacan, Leyte, Philippines, and was raised in a Seventh-day Adventist family by her parents, Erlinda Israel Delima and Santos Gencianos Delima. Demonstrating an early interest in the arts, and she gained local recognition for her singing and dancing skills, actively engaging in community and school events.

Tentler studied accounting at the University of San Jose, Recoletos and later shifted to the Mountain View College as Music Major. In University of San Carlos Cebu City, Philippines, There, she pursued a degree in physical education, music, and health.[7] During her university years, she participated in several beauty contests in the Cebu province and appeared in commercials, billboards, brand brochures and fashion shows, beginning her journey as a print ad and ramp model.[8]

In 2004, Janice enrolled at the University of Southern Philippines, earning a degree in hotel management. She also holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Management from De La Salle University, graduating in 2010.[9]

Career

In 2004, Tentler commenced her career in the hospitality industry as a receptionist at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino. She later served as an outlet manager at Rest-O-Bar in Manila. Transitioning to Hyatt Grandchampions Resort and Spa in California in 2007, she held the position of Pianissimo Officer and subsequently worked as an F&B executive at Shangri-La Hotel Manila. Throughout her diverse experiences, Janice gained recognition as one of Manila’s most promising restaurant managers.[10]

She also served as a customer relations officer at Chevrolet Cebu.[11]

In 2008, Tentler joined as an executive secretary at GTC Films CNN International, contributing as a writer, editor for making indie films and production assistant for casting talents for shows such as Robinsons Road and Robinsons Blog in Manila, Philippines.[12]

Subsequently, in 2009, she became a physical education, health, and music teacher and a TLE Head Coordinator at Albuera Private High School while concurrently showcasing her musical talents as the lead singer in a band, performing at various venues in the city.[13][14] She is a member of Chinese Imperial choir.

Janice established Rivercity Investments, a rental property company, in 2014, holding the positions of CEO and Manager until 2021.[15] Expanding her portfolio, she joined Primerica Financial Services, Inc. as an insurance agent in 2018.[16]

In 2021, Janice assumed the role of Operations Manager at Speedy Appliance Service & Repair, dedicated to servicing the appliance repair needs anywhere in illinois.

In 2022, Tentler established Alegre De Pilipinas, LLC, a U.S.-based runway production, branding and marketing company promoting Filipino designers and models globally. Notably, she debuted her fashion show during New York Fashion Week (NYFW),[17] showcasing international Filipino designers and collaborators.[18][19] In addition to fashion, Alegre De Pilipinas promotes Filipino businesses, products, models,[20] talents, artists, magazines and brand ambassadors internationally.[21] Tentler's dedication to showcasing Filipino talent globally earned her recognition, including engagement with the Gawad America Award, America Excellence Award Through this collaboration,[22] she aims to provide Filipinos with opportunities in Hollywood.[23][24]

Philanthropy

Tentler is committed to serving the community through her philanthropic endeavors. In response to the aftermath of super typhoon Yolanda in 2013, she initiated the "Singing Ministry Crusade" in Cebu City, Philippines, raising funds for typhoon victims in Leyte through performances in various venues.[25][26][27]

In 2022, as an environmental activist advocating for the preservation of Mother Earth, Tentler was recognized as Mrs. Great Lakes Earth USA. Recently, she earned the title of Mrs. International Universe Philippines 2023, joining accomplished women worldwide.[28] She is also an active mental health advocate and aims to highlight mental health awareness at her upcoming competition in Las Vegas.[29][30][31] She is also a volunteer of the Bukas Palad Foundation in Cebu City, serving poor communities through housing, education, healthcare, and community development initiatives.

Tentler resides in Illinois, United States, with her husband, Dewayne Michael Tentler, and three children.
