History

J.A. Green & Co was founded in 2007 by the current president, Jeffery A. Green. Green is credited with using his previous 20 years of experience in the Department of Defense and on Capitol Hill to establish the company’s initial success.[2] He also has stated that the company’s goal is to “promote national security and leverage [the United States’] technological and industrial resources by strengthening the U.S. defense innovation and industrial bases as well as supporting policies that improve efficacy in government.”[3] The firm was initially hired by 12 clients in 2007.[4] Some of the clients it served during the 2007 Fiscal Year include ITT Industries, RTI International Metals, and New Process Gear.[4] Three years later, the company was able to almost double its client list.[5] In the fiscal year of 2019, the company served 33 clients.[6] Some of the clients it served during this year include Advantage Partners, American Pacific, Erickson Incorporated, Eutelsat, Materion, Space Exploration Technologies, and Tanium Incorporated.[6]

Organization and services

Offering services in three distinct categories internally designated as government relations, strategic planning, and business development, President Jeffery A. Green structured the firm to maintain and employ both an active lobbying team as well as a policy analyst team.[7] J.A. Green & Co collectively focuses on a broad range of lobbyist issues, with reports filed for Defense, Trade, Energy & Nuclear Power, Fed Budget & Appropriations, Homeland Security, and Aerospace among others in the Fiscal Year of 2019 alone.[8] The firm has also worked with government agencies such as the Defense Logistics Agency, Department of Defense, Department of Health & Human Services, Executive Office of the President, Department of Energy, and Office of Management & Budget, as well as lobbied on numerous pieces of legislation, including a reported 80 bills in 2020.[9] With a goal of promoting US national security and strengthening the US defense innovation and industrial base, the firm maintains the principle of only working with companies that support the US defense industrial base, or, foreign-owned allied companies if they “support the US military” and “do the majority of their defense related manufacturing activity in the United States”.[10]
