Izzadeen El-Amin Malik (born July 18, 1998) is a British professional boxer and humanitarian. In his first year as a pro, Izzadeen was 5-0 with four first-round knockouts. His success story is often defined as a journey from a high school dropout to a boxing champ.[1][2]

Early life and education

Izzadeen El-Amin Malik was born on July 18, 1998, in Luton, Bedfordshire, a small town next to London. He grew up in the Marsh Farm area of Luton, where he was raised primarily by his mother, Shazia, and his grandparents. Izzadeen's father left him and his mother when he was an infant, and he only remembers seeing him a couple of times throughout his childhood. Not having a male figure to look up to and guidance during his formative years contributed to his misbehavior and feeling lost and angry. They weren't his strongest support but they was the only family he knew. However, he channeled that anger into something positive by taking up boxing at 12.

Izzadeen attended Wauluds Primary School and later enrolled in Lea Manor High School.

After being excluded from school at age 15, Izzadeen knew that college was not for him and instead decided to pursue his dream of becoming a boxer. He also began to study Islam, as he found solace and guidance in his faith. Izzadeen credits his success to his faith in God.

Career

Izzadeen turned professional at age 22 on May 15th, 2021, in Mexico. He won his debut match on points against a formidable Mexican opponent and has since been racking up knockouts in Mexico and Colombia.[3] Izzadeen is determined to prove that he is the greatest and has set his sights on a world title. In his first year as a pro, he was 5-0 with four first-round knockouts.[4]

Personal life

Izzadeen is a private person and prefers keeping his circle small, accompanied by people who have seen his struggles and have been with him on his journey.

As a humanitarian and Islamic devotee, Izzadeen wants to further his religious studies and use his experiences and struggles to inspire others and bring awareness to important issues.
