Inga Minelgaite (born 1982) is a professor at the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Iceland. She is also a visiting professor at Vilnius University, Lithuania, and guest lecturer at a few more universities. Inga is a board member at WOW University – the first online university for women only. Inga is the first foreigner ever to acquire and hold a professor’s position in the School of Business, University of Iceland. Inga‘s main research field is cross-cultural leadership.[1] Inga is also interested in emerging fields of study, such as leading temporary project teams and followership.

Pre-academic period

Inga has worked at a wood processing company, located in Kaunas, during 2000-2006, as an Assistant Sales Manager (2000-2003) and as a Marketing and Sales Manager (2004-2006). During 2007-2011, Inga held a few positions in the construction industry as a Board Member and Project Manager in Iceland and Lithuania. In 2008-2010, Inga served as a Director in EU projects and consultancy in Reykjavík. In 2010-2012, she was a Board Member and a Project manager|Project Manager in Lithuania, where she supervised distribution and sales of cosmetic products. Inga has fifteen years of experience working in senior and top management positions in various sectors of business and multiple countries.

Academic career

Inga acquired her Bachelor’s degree in Marketing management|Marketing Management (BAA) in 2000-2004 from ISM University of Management and Economics. Inga was appointed as the Head of the Project Management Center at SMK University of Applied Social Sciences from 2005-2007 where in addition to her teaching responsibilities she supervised projects, including Life Long Learning, EU structural. She conducted her Master’s degree in Business administration|Business Administration in |Human Resources Management/Personnel Administration from the Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuania (2006-2008).

In 2012-2016, Inga conducted Ph.D. studies at the School of Business at the University of Iceland where she specialized in the cross-cultural leadership field, followed by Postdoctoral Research in 2016-2017 at the University of Iceland. In 2017, Inga was appointed to an Assistant Professor position, followed by an Associate Professorship in 2018-2020. From July 2020, Inga has held a Professorship at the School of Business, University of Iceland. Inga has also been a Board Member at the WOW University since 2019. In May 2018, Inga founded the Institute for Project Management at the University of Iceland and acted as its Chairperson|Chair until 2020.

Teaching/Program director

In 2005-2006, Inga was a lecturer at the SMK University of Applied Social Sciences, where she taught Marketing, Project Management, Art of Negotiation, and Export and Trade Policy. In September 2017, Inga was appointed to the role of Programme Director of the MSc Project Management Program at the University of Iceland, which she still holds to this day. In 2015-2017, Inga got a Professional Internship where she focused on Staff Mobility Erasmus Program and teaching at Bachelor's degree|Bachelor, Masters, and Doctor of Philosophy|PhD level at Kaunas University of Technology|Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuania.

During 2017-2020, Inga was appointed as Associate Professor at the University of Iceland, where she has taught Project Management (MBA program), Project Management II (Masters program), Qualitative Research Methods (Masters program), Project Portfolio Management, and International Projects (Masters program), Future of Work, Introduction to Management (Bachelors program), Lean and Agile Management (Masters program), Leadership and Leader (Master program), and Theoretical Research Foundation: Phenomenology and Case studies (PhD course). After being granted her Professorship, in the academic year 2020-2021 she taught Lean and Agile Management (Masters program), Project Portfolio Management and International Projects (Masters program), Qualitative Research Methods (Master program), Sustainability and Future of Organizations (Master program), and MBA.
