Ibrahim Babatunde Anoba (born in Lagos on 4 January 1993) is a Nigerian editor, historian, and African affairs analyst.[1][2][3][4] His commentaries have appeared in The Africa Report, Al Jazeera, Forbes, WABC-TV, RealClearPolitics, I24NEWS, and The National Interest.[5][6][7][8][9][10] He is known for his criticism of the African Union and the Economic Community of West African States(ECOWAS), particularly regarding their handling of coup d'état on the continent.[11][12][13][14][15] While appearing on the London-based Arise News in the aftermath of the 2021 Guinean coup d'état, Anoba criticized the ECOWAS for sanctioning the military junta noting that the regional oragnization was "only watching out for itself" because it "refused to sanction" the deposed president Alpha Condé amid gross power abuse.[16]
Following the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Anoba appeared on a New York show with American TV host Sandra Bookman where he called the Ukrainian authorities' treatment of African students fleeing the Russo-Ukrainian War a "violation of human dignity" and "racist treatments."[8] In 2021, Anoba joined Atlas Network as a fellow of its Center for African Prosperity.[17]
