Ian Roberts is an internationally published fitness and fashion model, defence contractor, and former boxer based in Bristol, United Kingdom.[1] His work as a fitness and fashion model has graced the pages of various publications worldwide, including the popular poster series that included the iconic L'Enfant, which sold a staggering 2 million copies globally. Roberts' portfolio also features a captivating commercial for Harley-Davidson.[2]
Early life and education
Roberts was born and raised in Bristol, United Kingdom, where he attended Bridge Farm infant and junior school, followed by Hartcliffe School. Following a household relocation near Portishead, he enrolled at Gordano School. During his school years, Roberts showcased his natural athleticism by representing his school in football and rugby. Additionally, he played as a central midfielder for Portishead's under-16 football team. However, Roberts's focus shifted to boxing, inspired by legendary boxers like 'Sugar' Ray Leonard.
As an amateur boxer, Roberts became a member of Bristol's Broad Plain Boxing Club, the Bristol amateur boxing scene had some great fighters, including future world champions Adrian Stone and Glenn Catley. Both Roberts and Catley recorded stoppage wins at the Empire ABC club show. He continued his boxing journey, participating in numerous bouts for Broad Plain Boxing Club and representing the West of England in his boxing endeavors.
Roberts holds a Bachelor of Science in Computing and Information Technology from The Open University.
Career
Modeling Career
After A-levels, Roberts pursued a career in fashion modeling on the recommendation of friends. He started his career by winning a model search competition in Bristol. His portfolio grew quickly, and he landed modeling jobs for Coca-Cola, Mulberry Clothing, 20th Century Fox, Harley Davidson, John Anthony, Sky TV, Next, Alexandra Clare Parfum, The Sun, and Third Planet Poster Company, including the iconic L'Enfant poster, which sold over two million copies globally. As a result, Roberts signed with numerous agencies, including those in Birmingham, Manchester, London, Barcelona, Paris, and New York, and modelled with well-known models like Sophie Anderton and Emma Willis.[3]
In addition to photo shoots, he did film and television work, including commercials and appearances on ‘'Hitman and Her" and the movie "Gods of Egypt." In November 2022, he starred in a music video for multi award-winning music producer and rapper Alonestar.[4]
Other works
Roberts's career has been diverse, including his role as head of security at Lakota nightclub in Bristol. He is currently a business and property owner with investment properties in the UK and Portugal. He is a director and shareholder of Nursing Solutions Ltd., the largest independent nursing and care agency in the southwest, and Jobhub.biz Ltd.[5]
IT Career
Roberts worked in Afghanistan in 2010 as part of Operation Enduring Freedom for ISAF/NATO, stationed in Kabul. He currently works as a defense contractor.
