Human Race is a charity song recorded by the Dream Team Project - a group of musicians from the USA, Croatia, and Indonesia.[1][2] It was organized by Indra Putra, Derek Sherinian, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal,[3] and Edo Widiz with the aim to raise funds to support the “ReForest Our Planet” program from ForestNation and was released on January 21, 2022.[4]

Background

Human Race intends to generate funds for ForestNation's 'ReForest Our Planet' campaign and promote awareness about it.[5] Through the Human Race, Forest wants to plant more trees in Tanzania to help tackle the ongoing climate crisis.[6][7]

Indonesian guitarist Edo Widiz of veteran rock band Voodoo, former Yngwie Malmsteen and Journey vocalist Jeff Scott Soto, and American drummer Simon Phillips, who has drummed for The Who, Toto, and Judas Priest, have all contributed to the single.[8][9]

Over the song's anthemic guitar solos, Jeff Scott Soto, Once Mekel, and Croatian singer Dino Jelusi interchange vocals, delivering messages of worldwide resilience and uniting for a greater cause.[10] Mekel also performs 'Sitou Timou Tumou Tou,' a brief spoken-word verse in Bahasa Indonesia.

The song was recorded in 8 studios in 3 countries throughout the months May 2021 to October 2021. The Composer, Indra Putra says that throughout the period, he received various advice from Richard Marx and David Pomeranz, inspiring him to finish the song and release it. He also received an advice about climate change with reference to the song from Steve Wozniak.[11]

Music video

A week before the complete song was released, ForestNation published a small teaser video on their YouTube page on January 13, 2022. The video includes a message about the song's cause, which is climate change and mother earth's reforestation. Approaching and collaborating with several renowned artists in different fields, the song was released as the Dream Team Project. The song featured as charity song with forest nation to support reforestation and address the global issue of climate change. Human Race become ForestNation Anthem.[13][14]

NFT

On March 6, 2022, Once Mekel as the collaborator on this project announced that the song will be available in NFT provided by WiseArt. At the same time, Once Mekel also announced that the song will release new a program called "Music Collaboration Program".[15]

The Music Collaboration Program can be done by anyone, whether singers, guitar players, drummers, bassists, and even traditional musical instrument players.

The program mean to provide opportunity to collaborate with the Dream Team Project in the song Human Race in different versions.[16]

The Music Collaboration Program will works as simple as buying Tracks from Human Race song through NFT that is provided on the WiseArt platform. WHich later the collaborators can be creative by adding their own new recorded tracks and then send it back to the Dream Team Project Team.

Once Mekel mentioned that they will be doing selection to the collaborators and then will release a new version of Human Race song worldwide.[17]

Once Mekel hopes that this program can be a pioneer of creating new opportunities in terms of music collaboration on an international scale including music distribution worldwide.

Starx and Once Mekel have together collaborated on creating a green music platform, IMProduction. IMProduction is focused on building a green tech platform to leave a positive environmental impact. Proceeds from every song will be set aside to support and carry environment friendly activities in association with ForestNation. Every individual who will buy a digital song will get a special NFT from that artists.
