Hrista Đorđević (Serbian Cyrillic: Христа Ђорђевић; c. 1770- after 1813) was a Serbian lieutenant who fought alongside the ranks of Karađorđe during the First Serbian Uprising. Hrista was the father of Filip Hristić,[1]23rd Prime Minister of Serbia.[2][3]
Hrista Đorđević, who during the First Serbian Uprising with his brother Veličko, arrived from a small Bulgarian town with a Serbian minority[4]to Serbia and joined Karađorđe's insurgents.
After the collapse of the uprising, he briefly returned to Samokov, where he married Ekaterina and came to Belgrade again. Hrista Đorđević had two sons, Filip and Sava. Both were born in Belgrade. His older son Filip became Prime Minister of Serbia|Serbia's 23rd prime minister. His great-grandson was Jovan Hristić was a poet, essayist, president of the Writers' Association of Serbia, professor at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade.[5]
Family lineage
Each generation was highly educated and significantly present on the social scene of Serbia. Filip Hristić who was Serbia's Prime Minister received his Doctor of Law degree at the University of Sorbonne in 1849 while his brother Sava Hristić was a court practitioner, then a lawyer and later a judge.[6]
