HostBooks Limited is an Indian integrated cloud-based application to maintain Accounting, Tax, GST, TDS, E-Way Bill and Payroll records.[1] Established in 2009, New Delhi based HostBooks Limited is founded and incorporated by Kapil Rana with operations in San Francisco and India.[2]

With a single-click filing process, the software offers a structured approach, tools and automation-in process.[3]

History

On 1 July 2017 the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was implemented that brought a change in the way businesses function in India. This gave rise to the need for a software which could help in the new procedures and formalities attached to calculating tax.[4]

This also resulted in the popularity of HostBooks, accounting software which offers billing and return filing experience, making the management of accounts easy.

In 2019, SMB accounting solution was launched for small business services in San Francisco, USA with a focus on automation.[2]

In May 2020 - the lockdown period, HostBooks users increased significantly for their cloud-based all-in-one accounting and compliance system.[5]

Collaborations

In 2019, HostBooks launched a TV Show – ‘GST pe Charcha’ to assist businesses on GST-related queries.[6]

In December 2019, HostBooks was also selected as GST Suvidha Provider (GSP) by GSTN. GSP are empowered with technical capabilities to handle multiple service related to GST.[7]

In January 2020, HostBooks signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the national professional accounting body. This significant move was taken to encourage the use of technology and automation among chartered accountants.[8]
