Holy Angel University
Holy Angel University is a private, Catholic institution of higher learning located in Angeles City in the Philippines. It was established in June 1933 by Don Juan Nepomuceno and Fr. Pedro Paulo Santos, who subsequently became the Archbishop of Cáceres. It is known as the first lay-founded Catholic school and the first co-educational Catholic high school. Both of these distinctions were awarded to the institution. It is the biggest private educational institution in Central Luzon, with a total student population of over 21,000, making it the institution with the greatest student population on a single campus in the region.
Don Juan Nepomuceno and Fr. Pedro Paulo Santos laid the groundwork for what would become Holy Angel University in June of 1933. It is recognised as the first Catholic school to be formed by laypeople and the first Catholic school to admit both male and female students.
Dr. Luis Maria R. Calingo assumed his role as President of the University on June 1, 2015, succeeding Engr. Geromin T. Nepomuceno, Jr., who had been serving in that capacity since Dr. Villanueva tendered his retirement in June 2014.
The urban campus of the institution covers an area of 8 hectares. The Epiphany of Angels Park is located on the grounds of the university, and it has an exhibit of the Seven Archangels as well as the Holy Guardian Angel. The original painting of the Holy Guardian Angel that Don Juan Nepomuceno had commissioned is on display at the University Chapel on the campus of this educational institution. The San Francisco de Javier building is home to a number of important university facilities, including the university theatre on the ground level and the offices of the University President on the fourth story. The university library can be found on the second and third floors of this structure.
